13.01.2022 Who has been out Ball Bay and Haliday Bay way recently? Work on a major reconstruction of Ball Bay Road is progressing well. As part of the project, which began in June, the road is being widened and sealed and drainage improved. Work on the road is continuing, with motorists asked to obey the instructions of all safety signage and on-duty controllers. The bulk of the project is scheduled for completion before Christmas. This project is proudly funded by the Queensland Government through the Transport Infrastructure Development Scheme (TIDS) and council.

12.01.2022 Hay Point Transfer Station will be closed until further notice due to potential contamination. Hay Point is normally open from Thursday to Sunday but will be closed until an assessment of the site has been completed. 05.01.2022 Stop and watch! As of today, a new Australian Warning System will see hazard icons change across the country. Icon colours will be depicted with a yellow, orange, or red triangle depending on the warning level.... 03.01.2022 Council is installing traffic calming devices and speed bumps on Marzan Street and George Fordyce Drive, Rural View, this month, to help reduce speeding in the area. The works are being carried out Monday to Saturday from 6am until 6pm and are expected to be completed before Christmas 2020, weather permitting. Anthony Vella Street will be closed for the duration of the works with a detour in place.... George Fordyce Drive and Marzan Street will be single lane traffic, with traffic control in place. Motorists are asked to please adhere to all road signage and instructions in the area. Council apologises for any inconvenience caused by these works. 02.01.2022 People with disability, carers, community organisations, emergency services, and government gathered on Tuesday to discuss challenges for vulnerable people in disasters. The Addressing Vulnerabilities and Reducing Disaster Risk Forum focussed on people more at higher risk in emergencies such as people with disabilities, mental illness, older people, and people with chronic health concerns. The forum was hosted by council and featured international expert on person-centred emergency preparedness, associate professor Michelle Villeneuve from University of Sydney via video link.
