23.01.2022 Welcome to today's Winter Wonderland drive up the road to Lake Dobson in the Mt Field National Park There is certainly going to be plenty of snow all acros...s Tasmania this week... the only question is where will you end up? Temperatures are set to plummet at Mt Field with the following overnight minimums forecasted... Tonight (-2 degrees), Wednesday (-2), Thursday (-6). Friday (-6), Saturday (-6), Sunday (-6) and Monday (-4) As the winding road ascends through Mount Field National Park the stunning natural flora transforms, offering a constantly changing view as you climb to higher altitudes. Known as ‘the park for all seasons’, Mount Field is part of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area and home to some of the world’s tallest eucalypt forests, as well as a unique array of alpine vegetation. Mount Field National Park is one of Tasmania’s oldest national parks and is also one of its most diverse. Spectacular glaciated landscapes compete for attention with cascading waterfalls, including the breathtaking, three-tiered Russell Falls - arguably one of the most impressive waterfalls in Tasmania. Begin your Mount Field visit with a leisurely walk through the towering tree ferns and giant eucalypts on the short walk to Russell Falls, before travelling up the road toward Lake Dobson, where you will find longer day walks and, in winter, the snow-dusted slopes of the Mount Mawson ski field. 09.01.2022 School is out, but don’t worry we’ve got you covered! Winter is the perfect time for some fairy spotting in #DerwentValleyTasmania. Here's some clues they oft...en leave for us: ferns = ladders fungi = shelters butterflies = wings bird feathers = beds tree hollows = gateways to magical lands Fairy spotting is also best tackled on a full belly so don't forget to stock up at the Banjo's New Norfolk Market on High Street before you head out! It's back open every Saturday 8 am to 2 pm. Thank you @deni_cupit (IG) for sharing your top fairy spotting location with us! We've heard Mount Field National Park is a real hot spot.

09.01.2022 Dear Linda and Yanni, thank you for a wonderful stay in your quaint and gorgeous cottage. We were very warm and cosy. The kitchen was great to cook in. The b...eds were comfy and the bathroom great. Love that you go through there to the front verandah. Enjoyed a lovely brekkie on the verandah on our last morning. Feeding the animals was a great treat. Thank you very much. We enjoyed Mt Field National Park and the Styx River tall trees. On our way back to Launceston we visited the Wilderness Wall, how amazing is the sculptor, Greg Duncan. What a treasure this is to have in our state. I was very moved by the story and craftsmanship. Great drive back over the Central Plateau where we had stunning views and thick fog (at times). Greast birthday holiday break. See more
