17.01.2022 A client has asked - what is the plank routine that you have been doing? #planking #core #exercise #sittingatadesk So I thought that I would answer it here as it might help some others too.... So here goes.... Id love to say that I do this ever day but thats not true and Id be lying if I said that I was. Mostly Ive been walking lately whether that be on my own or with friends. So when I do go to the gym I incorporate the planks into my routine and today I managed to do 2 mins again. I started of slowly and built the time up as I went, challenging myself each time. So are you too working from home and not able to do your usual fitness regime? Feeling that your core is not as good as it used to be? Well this can help........ By getting up every hour and doing the following. Walking whether that be around the house or if you have an underneath garage then you could go for a run or even a run round the block. Incorporating in one of the following each time: Building up each time and its ok if you can only do one set at first. Slowly but surely wins the race. * Set of 3x 12 lunges * Set of 3x 12 squats making sure to keep your feet pointing straight ahead and slightly apart, with your knees bent * Burpees starting of at 5 and building up to a set of 3x 10 * Push-ups starting off with your knees bent, building up to a full one, until you can do x10 Then you can add a plank in at the end for a count of 30 seconds, working up to 1 min 30 seconds which too can be split up throughout the day. This service was started 13 years ago at Bear Cottage by another therapist. Tomorrow will be my first day and I will be offering Reflexology treatments to their parent’s, sibling’s, grandparent’s and staff, twice a month, on a Tuesday.... About Bear Cottage: Bear Cottage is the only children's hospice in NSW, one of only two in Australia, and the only one in the world affiliated with a children's hospital. It is a very special place that's dedicated to caring for children with life-limiting conditions and their families. Planning began for Bear Cottage almost 20 years ago, when Dr John Yu and Dr Michael Stevens from The Children's Hospital at Westmead decided to enhance the hospital's palliative care program. Located on Sydney's Northern Beaches, in Manly, Bear Cottage is like a home away from home - as far removed from a hospital environment as possible. Here staff do not wear uniforms, no medical procedures are carried out in the bedrooms, the children's rooms are designed to like a normal bedroom, and we even have a family pet, Beau, our adorable Labrador. Me - Mum and Dad are out Saturday night so I had to call the restaurant to see if they cater for Coeliacs.... DD - what is a Coeliac mummy? Me - thats what mummy has and why I cant eat gluten DD - ahh I thought you called the chef to see if he could perform you a SILLY ACT (Coeliac). See more
