24.01.2022 October is #MenopauseAwarenessMonth We have shared this great article from #jeanhailes with expert tips on how to manage the common symptoms of menopause. How can women’s health physiotherapists help? ... Exercise Exercise can play an important role in managing the common menopausal symptoms of central weight gain, sleep disturbance, and anxiety and depression. Exercise also helps manage: - Stress and constipation which can make symptoms worse - Other effects of aging including loss of bone density & muscle mass Pelvic health Reduced oestrogen, vaginal dryness, and reduced pelvic floor blood flow/muscle tone that occur with menopause can impact on a woman’s bladder, bowel and sexual function. As a result, women may experience reduced libido, pain with sex, bladder urgency and frequency, and incontinence (involuntary leaking from the bladder and/or bowel). For more information or to seek help from one of our women’s health physio’s, contact reception on 9481 6312 or [email protected]
