25.01.2022 MP UPDATE 30 OCTOBER 2020 BORDERS as of 1am 3 November, our border will open to NSW, although the 32 LGA’s in Greater Sydney will remain a hotspot for now. Our borders will also remain closed to Victoria. The new border rules for NSW are no longer about place of residence like they were under the border zone rules. It is now back to ‘have you been to a declared hotspot within the last 14days’. As long as someone has not been to Sydney within the last 14 days, they should be... eligible to enter QLD from NSW. The fire is travelling a south south-easterly direction towards Dundbara. The fire is being monitored and travelers are advised to check the QPWS website for updates and travel advice www.ruralfire.qld.gov.au/map POSTAL VOTES For those who have received their postal votes, please ensure that you have completed these and placed them back in the mail by the end of election day, tomorrow. They allow 10 days after the election for these to return and count towards results. If you have not received your postal vote and are unable to attend a polling booth in person tomorrow, please phone the Electoral Commission QLD on 1300 881 665 as you may be able to phone vote. BUSHLANDS PREPOLL We have received complaints regarding the ECQ’s choice of setting up their pre polling location at Bushlands on Swanbourne Way. This has been disruptive for local residents and carparking both at the shopping centre and the adjacent childcare centre. I will be writing to both the ECQ and the Attorney General regarding ensuring more suitable venues for prepoll are selected in the future. For anyone wishing to write to the ECQ about this direct, you can do so via [email protected] ELECTION DAY Tomorrow is the last opportunity to have your voice heard! 17.01.2022 BECKMANS RD STAGE 1 UPDATE- Council have advised that the detailed designs for the Cooroy Noosa/Beckmans roundabout will be completed by June 2021. Originally it had been hoped that it would be in the first quarter, however this will give time for the services relocations which I have been advised have been delayed. Yes, a long journey, however, we are getting there! With this stage now under council management, updates will be available at www.noosacouncil.com whilst we concentrate on progressing Stages 2 & 3!! From the trauma has come new understandings, resources and connectivity within our streets and communities. 13.01.2022 REGEN NOOSA- A fabulous project for our community, and one that can demonstrate an all levels of government partnership. This incorporates our beloved Pirate Park,, home of the mighty Noosa Pirates Rugby League Club, undergoing a major rebuild to create a facility that incorporates sport, recreation and wellness, providing a ‘hub’ for all ages. Pomona Uniting Church, 27 Factory Street, Pomona; and . Units 4 & 5, 6 Swanbourne Way, Noosaville... The voting centres will be open from: . 9.00am to 6.00pm on Mondays, Wednesday, Fridays . 9.00am to 9.00pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays . 9.00am to 5.00pm on Saturday, 24 October. They are operating under COVID safe directives so remember your 1.5, pencils and sanitiser, will have a queue manager at Bushlands site, and we will have recycle bins at the exits. With Council not able to sign off due to the financial impacts of COVID, an EOI (expression of interest) process is underway. I have requested an extension for submitters due to caretaker mode. Fabulous fun had when joining the real superheroes of Youturn (and expose my true goofy self ) at our Tewantin Noosa Community Bank Branch of Bendigo Bank .However the purpose of the gathering is a serious one. Homelessness impacts all ages in our community, and we must step up when we are let down by a system that has failed to address the lack of affordable accommodations.
