20.01.2022 707 Operations Inc is a proud supporter of Rail Safety Week which commences today. While our heritage trains are not able to operate at the moment, the mainline railway network continues, providing a vital service to the community. Rail Safety Week aims to promote community awareness and remind people of the ways to be #RailSAFE. -RSW is an annual awareness week dedicated to all aspects of rail safety. Rail Safety Week is held in August every year, but your safety is a year-r...ound commitment. -Be alert around trains and trams. At level crossings always look both ways, pay attention to signals, signs and platform lines, and only cross when it’s safe to do so. -Fatalities, incidents and near hits on the network can cause severe and lasting trauma to the rail employees involved, and the majority of these incidents can be avoided. This is why over 707 Operations Inc and 90 other organisations band together each year to promote Rail Safety Week, reminding the community to act responsibility when near, or on, the rail network. The easiest and best way to be #RailSAFE around the rail network is to follow the basic safety rules and respect rail signage. Always look both ways before crossing tracks and cross at designated areas. Remember trains can’t stop quickly or swerve; they always have right of way. Pay attention and avoid being distracted by mobile devices. #RSW2020 #RailSafe

11.01.2022 Whilst currently non operational and workshop activities being curtailed, due to COVID restrictions , one of our volunteers has taken the working from home directive to a new level! We thank Doug for rebuilding the entry doors on carriage BS 215. When the carriage arrived the external doors suffered from damage caused by weather and had to be re converted from power to manual operation, which wasn’t as easy as it was first thought. Doug was able to take all four home and rebuild them to a very high standard ! Thanks again Doug !

09.01.2022 On 13th March 2016 , van 35 CP was collected from South Dynon , after being converted from Standard to Broad Gauge and taken to Newport , it’s been a bit of a spare time project, having been sandblasted in 2019, then having rust cut out and external steel replaced earlier this year and is now well advanced and nearing completion. This van will return to standard gauge in the future , joining some other passenger carriages to visit new destinations and increasing tourism in regional Victoria and Interstate. Thanks again to all our Volunteers assisting in the various stages of the work. Photos posted are in order of work performed chronologically thus far.

03.01.2022 Reproduced Art Deco style external signage has arrived for placement on repainted carriage BS 215, this lettering was utilised on this carriage when BS 215 (as VFR215), operated on the standard gauge between 1962 and around 1986, after which the carriage was repainted tangerine. The style and font of the lettering is believed to be unique to the Victorian Railways. It is hoped to place the signage on the car this coming weekend.

01.01.2022 Today our Standard Gauge Loco T 387 saw some use shuffling various V/Line carriages around at the Gemco Dynon maintenance facility. Into the future we plan T 387 to form the nucleus of a standard gauge mainline heritage operation, with carriages BS 212 and BS 215 , and other stock. The COVID 19 outbreak has shelved restoration work for the greater part of 2020, and subsequently no train operations restricted income streams to fund this project, however work to form the nuc...leus of the standard gauge train is still very well advanced. The Standard Gauge operation will open up new destinations and help grow our business. Donations are greatly appreciated towards this and other ongoing restoration activities , can be made via https://www.trybooking.com/QWNJ Photos taken by David Goodie & Paul Kemp.
