25.01.2022 Some how we snuck around some pretty ordinary weather and got through a great weekend of training. Thanks to the parents who lent a hand on both Saturday and Sunday. Even if young/teenage boys don’t appreciate you like they should, we are extremely grateful for everything you do for us. I’ll send an email out tomorrow with a couple of points I’ve been thinking about regarding batting and bowing. For anyone looking to learn the sweep shot, copy this!!! 24.01.2022 Absolute icicles today for the young fellas, but from what I’ve heard there was no whinging (there were even shorts and shirts on show!!!). Not whinging when things are tough is a common trait of the elite players. Well done lads and sorry I couldn’t be there with you. Hopefully next week.

20.01.2022 This message is to all our senior and junior academy members. I have been in contact with NSW Health and Cricket NSW and although I can't coach at our sessions, I am allowed to set up and pack down. This is better news than what it could have been, so I'm stoked to be able to say that the program will be able to continue for the next 4 weeks. This is only possible because of our wonderful coaches and volunteers. Without them the work we are getting done to improve ourselves w...ould be nearly impossible. Make sure you go out of your way to tell them what a wonderful job they are doing and then give mum and dad a hug for the sacrifices they make on your behalf. Most of us don't do this enough and it's a really easy thing to do. Anyway guys, stay well and I can't wait to see the pics and vids from this weekends sessions. 17.01.2022 Happy New Year all. Let’s hope 2021 is a far better one for all of us. If any of our South Coast followers are looking for a new bat let me know. 14.01.2022 Morning guys, I’m looking to brainstorm with you all as I want to design a new bat range for 720 Cricket. The design will be engraved into the bat as i want the timber quality to be the main feature and I want to ensure the bats don’t carry more weigh than they need to. If you are good at design send me what you come up with, also send me the name you’d like to use (it has to be something that will match a high quality bat as it will be our top range). I will send you a pair of gloves as a thank you if your design is chosen. These were my original designs. Merry Xmas

08.01.2022 Hey all, this is what I have come up with for our bat design. I’m hoping to have this engraved into the bat so I don’t have to add any extra weight to the finished product. I’d love to know what you guys think (good, bad or otherwise) even though it is unlikely I will be able to change it now. Thanks to Mark Brockman for the name. I love it as this bat will be the top of our 720 world

07.01.2022 This is great clip if you are an Aussie supporter. They needed 41 off 24 balls and they were 9 wickets down! Once upon a time this was considered impossible, but if it can be done mathematically, there is always a chance. The thing I find interesting in the chase is that of the 21 balls it took to win the game, there were 7 dot balls and 5 singles! That’s 5 runs off 12 balls and they still got home with 3 balls to spare!!! Next time you’re chasing a target give yourself time... to work out a rough plan. In this game Faulkner targeted the short leg side boundary. Yes he was lucky that he could clear the fence, but even if his 6’s were only 4’s he would have been left with 6 runs from the last 3 balls! Parents, make sure your kids do their maths homework! PS: kids make sure your parents realise you can do maths while hitting, bowling or catching balls

07.01.2022 Another cold one on the Coast today and another bunch of young cricketers striving to be better. Firstly, well done lads. You don’t get better without hard work. Secondly, on behalf of all the players and especially from me, thanks to the coaches and parents who have put their hands up to guide these lads in the right direction.

06.01.2022 Hi guys, I know I talk a lot about how batsmen should be trying to push the game forward, but the first 5 mins of this clip is great in how it talks about defence. Even though I like being aggressive, it is nearly impossible to push the game forward if you can’t keep the good ball out! I’ve outlined the timeline of the bits that I like if you don’t want to listen to it all (I didn’t listen to the attacking section as I needed some sleep!) 2:16-2:45 Ricky Ponting talks abou...t a short stride length and how you square up and come across the ball if you do this and reach for the ball. There is footage of Warner nicking to 2nd slip showing it perfectly (Warner is notorious for having a short stride which hurts him a little when the ball is nipping around and if you aren’t as good as him it will hurt you more!!!) 4:33-5:03 Ponting talks about being how it is important to be happy with a good defensive shot. He mentions that without a solid defence that you’re not going to survive. 5:03-5:33 Boycott repeats what he says earlier but I think he says it better this time. He talks about how you can make a statement with solid defence and then when they bowl a bad ball you try to cash in. Vaughan gives a good wrap about practise and preparation. 05.01.2022 Morning all, I hope everyone is doing well. I just wanted to let all of our Academy members know that I have emailed out some info this morning to those who have registered for the fundamentals program. The email outlines our Covid safety plan, how to access the training facility and a plan for our session. I will do the same for the senior members asap. If you haven’t already done it, feel free to join our 720 Members Chat Group on Facebook. This will be a 2020 members only ...page where we can share info and photos from our sessions. I have also added a few coaches I know who may also add some input from time to time. Lastly, the weather for this weekend is not looking great, but we will leave it as late as we can in regard to cancellations. 04.01.2022 What a great start to our junior program! Thanks to all the families who came out we hope you all had a great time. To have 26 youngsters all keen on a preseason training can only be good for the upcoming season. Keep the words balance, contact zone and bat path at the front of your thoughts when you are thinking about batting and remember the points about where we want ball in your gather and where we want to drive our knees throughout your bowling action. Love your work l...ads and can’t wait to get back into it next Saturday PS: if anyone left a Kookaburra bat and a pair of Gray Nicolls gloves let me know and I’ll drop them off to you tomorrow.

04.01.2022 If any of our academy members/coaches are keen to do a few push ups here is a good reason to do it. Many cricketers suffer with mental battles of their own so let’s make sure we all support each other through the good times and the bad. You don’t have to nominate anyone to keep this going, but if you do decide to give it a go, get mum or dad to video it and post it up.

04.01.2022 Hi all, I’ve just been asked to confirm timings for the weekend. Please see below Saturday 2-4pm Sunday 9:30-12:30pm... I’m sure most of you have noticed the forecast for the weekend isn’t looking great. My gut feel is that Sunday’s session will really struggle, but we may get lucky with Saturday. If we get washed out we’ll organise a make up session so the boys aren’t missing out. Whatever happens I'll obviously be coming down either way. If we washed out I’ll try to get the senior uniforms to the majority of you which will help save time for the following Sunday. If you have any questions please give me a bell.
