12.01.2022 Thoughts are with all affected by this tragedy

11.01.2022 Firefighters from 373 East Maitland have had an intensive 3 weeks of training and assessment in Complex Transport Rescue. This training is apart of a larger program to upgrade Fire and Rescue East Maitland’s capability to include General Land Rescue (GLR). We have been extremely fortunate to create a great working relationship with Westrac who are the providers of CAT earthmoving equipment. ... This working relationship has seen firefighters practice their skills on real equipment in simulated emergency conditions. There is no substitute for having access to real machines that bring real challenges. Crews work to understand the movements of the equipment. They block out or chain back moving parts so they control the movement with specialised lifting equipment. They follow guidelines around gathering information. This process ensures firefighters can perform the rescue under their complete control. Thankyou Westrac for providing the training facility and a variety of equipment. This type of training is invaluable and allows firefighters to be #preparedforanything #firefighter #rescuetraining #rescue @westracaus @fireandrescuensw Fire and Rescue NSW Station 373 East Maitland WesTrac Cat

09.01.2022 Day two of cordage rescue training continues for the crews at Fire and Rescue NSW Station 373 East Maitland. Fingal Bay headland (Barry Park Lookout) was the lo...cation for practical rope drill. Under the watch of our experienced rescue trainers, we set up a two rope system with a focused anchor point over a cliff face to rescue a training dummy. Another scenario was setup for a slope evacuation. Using a hauling crew of two, using mechanical advantage, four firefighters successfully and safely retrieved a patient packaged in the stokes litter over rough terrain. 08.01.2022 The weather wasn’t on our side today but is what has become expected for C platoon, regardless we made do with what we had and some foundation skills set.

07.01.2022 Thankyou Richmond Vale Railway Museum for working with Fire and Rescue NSW in providing a great facility to conduct important rescue training. This type of collaboration allows firefighters the ability to hone rescue skills in a manner that is safe and controlled. #PreparedforAnything
