25.01.2022 Inspiration time... When lock down hit Emily was determined to make healthy changes within herself while the world was in a health crisis. Emily had a weight loss goal and wanted to work on her strength training after a broken elbow injury last year...so we got to work. We did 2 weight sessions a week,then when the gym classes were operating again Emily added them in to her training. Emily wanted to make a lifestyle change, so she also cleaned up her diet to give her more e...nergy and better muscle recovery. No fad diets or expensive supplements were used in this process. With 10kg down in weight, more energy, muscle strength, positive attitude and confidence,Emily is now enjoying the benefits of being fitter,stonger and healthier. I am so proud of this girl for embracing the process and trusting a healthy lifestyle is possible at a challenging time.I am looking forward to Emiy's next phase of her training with me and the fab team at Total fitness Cessnock. 24.01.2022 SPENDING V's INVESTING. I once was told I spend a lot of time and money on my horses.....I pondered on this limiting belief for a while to to understand the true meaning of spending and investing. When we SPEND something it is gone when we INVEST we get a return. When I ride I invest in my physical and mental fitness,I invest in my horses education and I learn how to be successful and how to accept failure. I compete to invest time with like minded people, practice working ...towards goals,putting myself out of my comfort zone to grow and learn resilience. I invest my time being outside to widen my world. Having an investing mindset can lead to positive for filling lifestyle with many returns. When you are at the gym you are INVESTING in your health. When you buy nutrient rich foods you are INVESTING in your immune system. When you are with friends and family you are INVESTING in your relationships. When you take time to read a book or learn something new you are INVESTING in your intelligence. We all can be more aware of how we use our time,energy and money. Are you SPENDING or INVESTING?????? 22.01.2022 Important update for Bodyworx training clients. Hi guys,just reassuring you all that personal training sessions are still going ahead for the foreseeable future We are very fortunate to be training in owner operated smaller gyms that are taking their cleaning an sanitizing EXTREMELY seriously. (this is their livelihood)... Further personal hygiene rules for staff and patrons are in place,e.g. towels and hand washing etc. We are not aircondition dependant and doors are opened with plenty of air flow and we have outdoor training areas. We do not have high numbers in the gym at one time so social distancing is easily attainable. Health N.S.W is not discouraging exercising in gyms as long as there is policies and procedures in place to protect people.Infact they recommend exercise to boost immune health. As you need to remember we don't know how long social restrictions will be in place and training is very important for your physical and mental health. If you have personal concerns for training in the gym Bodyworx does offer a mobile service with equipment supplied. Take care and we will get through by keeping fit and looking after each other. This is not just about how much weight you are lifting,its about tempo,deficit, time under tension,form progression,exercise progressions and so much more. 07.01.2022 WHY I LOVE RESISTANCE TRAINING For the answer I had to take a look at my life. Why was I an outdoor kid? Why did I hate being in the classroom at school? Why did I love riding horses over jumps and as fast as I could as a teenager?... Why did I love dancing all night at a club or a music festival? Why do I love riding Dressage now? Answer, ....I love the feeling of movement and mastering it. Movement is freedom for me,the better I move the happier I am. This is what Resistance training does, Improves the way you move through life and gives you freedom. Your muscle grows,your bones are stronger and supported,your immunity improves, your range of motion is greater,your posture improves and your confidence grows.... who wouldn't want to live like this???? No one wants to be injured, sick,isolated or feel restricted by their body. The good news is we have the opportunity to train in a way that makes us not only look good but to feel great. ......we are only limited by what we tell ourselves. See more
07.01.2022 Wednesday Wise Crack I was once told "sometimes in life you have to look at things from a different angle." Perspective is a very powerful tool with what we tell ourselves. Try using the word 'get' instead of 'got'for instance... Instead of saying I have got to eat healthy, I have got to go to the gym or I have got to do the shopping,try saying I get to eat healthy,I get to go to the gym and I get to do shopping. 'Got'is a forced action that we will not want to really do and can lead to resistance. 'Get' is an opportunity we can feel greatfull for and open ourselves to a more positive way of thinking. I am looking into contucting a fitness workshop for riders of all disciplines and levels on the Central Coast. We often look after our horses better than ourselves I want to provide some insight on how we can improve our horses way of going through our body awareness while in the saddle and off your horse. Topics covered would be... Physical short falls caused by riding and how to improve them How to recognise and rectify bad habits RIDER specific exercises to strengthen your position and be more in tune with your aids Problem solving (eg.bad way/good way) How our brain and body communicates, helps and hinders us and our horses. How to prevent and deal with tension. ....and lots more. With 40 years experience in riding/training horses and riders I have always been interested in the physical and mental how and why of riding. As a personal trainer I have acquired a greater understanding on how the body works and how to help keep it in the best physical state to do what we love well...riding. The workshop would be without horses (maybe a demo horse depending on venue). All you would need is a note book,pen,a gym/yoga mat and comfortable clothing to do some exercises. It would be fantastic to get together with like minded people to discuss and help with physical awareness that will improve our sport. Happy RIDER...Happy HORSES
