22.01.2022 More and more cities around the world are moving their public transport bus fleets to electric. As the Chair of NSW Parliament's Committee on Transport and Infrastructure, I am pleased that we've recently completed our inquiry into electric buses for both regional and metropolitan public transport networks. Improved air quality and reduced noise pollution are just some of the benefits that became apparent as we considered submissions and engaged with key stakeholders with...in the industry, the community and passenger groups. To learn more about our recommendations and findings listen to the video or go to the Committee's report at the Parliament of NSW website: https://bit.ly/3jiNGbv

19.01.2022 As we come together on Remembrance Day, 102 years since the guns fell silent, it is our duty to continue to remember and honour those men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice - their life. The Australian Imperial Force joined the conflict in Europe beyond a century ago. Almost 420,000 Australians enlisted for service during World War 1 and many did not return from the Western Front.... Today, we remember those who served our nation to protect our freedom, in all conflicts. We should also acknowledge those nurses and emergency services personnel who support our serving members. The horror and tragedy of war is a constant reminder of the dark days we experienced as a young nation, where our diggers earned the respect of our allies for their tenacity and resilience. Today we remember the courage, resilience and sacrifice of Australian military men and women who have served and continue to serve our great nation in conflict and in crisis. Their sacrifice, delivered our freedom.

He was a mentor to many and a great mate to all.... His passing is a real loss to the RFS community. My condolences to Albert’s family and friends. He will be truly missed. The Hon. 17.01.2022 Today is Police Remembrance Day and I attended the local service at Windsor Police Station in the company of the new Mayor of Hawkesbury Clr Patrick Conolly, Detective Superintendent Jim Stewart, CInsp G Sims and the family of Detective Inspector Bryson Anderson who lost his life during a siege in 2012. Thank you Donna and Kane Anderson for being part of this very special service. Our thoughts are with you and all the families of Police who are no longer with us.

17.01.2022 Today I attended Friday morning mass at St Matthew’s Catholic Church, Windsor. The parishioners and staff should be so proud of this beautiful church. It is a place of prayer, comfort and peace through these difficult times and I was pleased to see that the NSW Government’s $31,000.00 Community Building Partnership Progam Grant had been put to good use, with the purchase and installation of new air conditioning. 14.01.2022 Minister for Sport, Multiculturalism, Seniors and Veterans The Hon. Geoff Lee - MP, Seat of Parramatta visited Hawkesbury today to meet up with the Evergreen Turf team, a local business powering the construction of the new Sydney Football Stadium (SFS). Director Graeme Colless has been in the turf industry for over 30 years and he tells me this contract will provide jobs for 200 people in Western Sydney. The company has had machinery custom made to do the job efficiently an...d I’m told that the ‘ready to play’ turf system which Evergreen has developed, means it can be laid one day and played on the next day! The pitch size of the new SFS will require 10,500 square metres of turf to be laid. I’ll leave that to Graeme and the team Congratulations Evergreen for your innovative approach and for creating more local jobs. Well done!

14.01.2022 Local land owners in the Bilpin area gathered to hear from Hawkesbury River County Council this week to learn about the Bilpin Project which aims to buffer, protect and conserve some of the most unique eucalyptus in Hawkesbury, known as Blue Mountains Shale Cap Forest. It’s about working with private land holders because most of this threatened bushland is on private property. In partnership with Hawkesbury City Council, Hawkesbury Landcare Network, Blue Mountains City Counci...l, NSW Government, and Greater Sydney Local Land Services, land owners can get advice and assistance with bush regeneration techniques, weed removal and land management practices. To find out more, contact [email protected] or call 02 4574 9600. Mayor of Hawkesbury Councillor Nathan Zamprogno

14.01.2022 Captain (Retired) Peter Speet AFSM of Oakville RFS Brigade was honored today and presented with the 60 Year National Medal. The big guns came to town too as a mark of respect for this legendary RFS volunteer. Thanks to Peter’s superb leadership and mentoring over the decades, Oakville Brigade has become one of the Champion brigades in Hawkesbury.... Peter has raised over $400K through BBQs and trained cadets at local high schools. It was wonderful to share the occasion with Peter’s family, Oakville brigade and Hills RFS members. Peter is such an inspirational, humble hero. Thank you for your service Peter. 14.01.2022 I popped down to South Windsor today to say hello to some of the locals and caught up with Nina at her fabulous shop Nina's Pre loved Goods on George Street. Just like my Dad, I enjoy the discovery of someone’s trash which could be another’s treasure. You could spend a while here exploring the nooks and crannies.... I couldn’t decide which clutch purse to choose, so I might have to return for another peek at the merchandise. Remember to support your local businesses in Hawkesbury! 13.01.2022 I know I'm biased when I say that Hawkesbury is an amazing destination, but for anyone who is not convinced, take a look at this video. It has been created by Destination NSW as part of the local tourism stimulus for Hawkesbury, which the NSW Government has just launched. The campaign known as 'The River is Just the Beginning' is returning to showcase stunning scenery, easy ways to entertain the family and plenty of places to embrace clean air, open space and friendly folk. ...Hawkesbury - an easy drive from Sydney's busy metropolitan zone. 13.01.2022 The Christie family have been farming the Canoelands orchard for a century. I toured the orchard with The Hon. Kevin Anderson MP, Minister for Better Regulation and Innovation and met John, Nathan and Jaime Christie. Three generations have worked this land and you can experience life on the farm and pick your own produce at this hidden gem in Hawkesbury. It’s located just off Old Northern Road at 27 Canoelands Road, Canoelands. It's a great place to visit! While at the orcha...rd, Minister Anderson announced a new study on ways to support farmers throughout NSW who have adopted sustainable land management practices or alternative farming systems. Looking after our farmers’ mental health and well being is a priority and this new study will better inform the NSW Government of the best ways we can support our primary producers. http://www.canoelandsorchard.com/ https://www.dailytelegraph.com.au//c7d217ac2aa06bbe40dd9ea

10.01.2022 Whilst I'm not a betting girl, I was happy to bet that a visit to Hawkesbury Race Club Limited with Minister for Better Regulation and Innovation and Racing legislation, Kevin Anderson MP, would put a smile on his face and he didn't disappoint me. We wanted to meet new CEO, Ken Rutherford who took on the job in February, a few weeks before COVID-19 hit. Ken is one of Hawkesbury's best kept secrets. He is a world champion cricketer having captained the New Zealand Cricket team... back in the 1990s. Minister Anderson had followed his career and shared some recollections of that great cricketing period. You can see the interview on this link: https://www.facebook.com/KevinAndersonMP/videos/388891005604668/ A big welcome to Hawkesbury Ken and looking forward to the Spring Carnival COVID-19 style!

10.01.2022 I had to check out the new addition to Richmond RSL Sub Branch - their community bus, complete with all the bells and whistles! The bus is an integral link for its members. The RSL Sub-Branch volunteers play such an important role in keeping folk connected and looking after the welfare of veterans, Defence personnel and their families.... I was missing this group and COVID-19 safe restrictions have deprived all of us of the vital face to face connection we are so used to. Getting into the rhythm of holding smaller meetings and accommodating safe practices is an art worth perfecting, so that we can all remain social and feel nurtured with the support of worthy community groups like this one. It was great to spend some time with the executive group and to ‘chew the fat’ - so therapeutic! Richmond RSL Sub-Branch Inc. 08.01.2022 When I caught up with Chris Sebastian and his wife Tash and baby Ava at Australiana Pioneer Village this week, I could tell they were enjoying this Hawkesbury experience. Chris is working with Destination NSW to promote Hawkesbury as a local attraction in the tourism market. There are so many day trip experiences in Hawkesbury where you can appreciate its natural beauty, marvel at the heritage and enjoy all that open space.... 08.01.2022 Singing sensations Brooke and Mollie McClymont met me at Hawkesbury’s Tizzana Winery to check out the hospitality and vibe. This quaint destination is another gem in Hawkesbury’s recommended tourist drive and Destination NSW is promoting the area with the help of personalities like The McClymonts, Australia’s number one country group. Tizzana Winery at Ebenezer was built in 1887 by Dr Fiaschi. It’s a beautiful Tuscany style sandstone structure and offers Bed & Breakfast acco...mmodation too. 03.01.2022 My compliments to the Hindu Council of Australia for celebrating the 2020 Deepavali festival at a gathering in NSW Parliament this evening. Deepavali is the Hindu festival of light. It is a time to connect with friends, exchange gifts and sweets. Reena Jethi

02.01.2022 The Children’s Hospital at Westmead was the big winner today as we supported the Pie of Origin event in Parliament House on the week of the NRL Grand Final. The top bid for the ‘Pie Minister of Australia’ pie was $2,100.00 and we all got a taste of those delicious Angus Beef meat pies and sausage rolls from Glenorie Bakery. Well done to Rob Pirina, Andrew Morello and the team. Glenorie Bakery will also donate $1 for every pie sold from Origin game 1 to game 3, so you too can support the Children’s Hospital, when you visit Glenorie Bakery.
