23.01.2022 Introducing my long-term composition project: Once Around the Sun for solo guitar. This is a collection of 365 solo guitar pieces, one for each day of a year. The first volume of ninety works were written over a seven week period in early 2017 and the opus is currently in progress as I am well into Volume 2 of 4. I invite the guitar community's involvement from professionals and students alike to engage the music and upload their performances on You Tube so that they can be ...commented on and the interpretative gamut of each piece be explored. This will assist my project critically and I can see how players do with the pieces. If anyone would like the complete volume, message me with your email and I'll send a link for download. A donation via Paypal would be welcome. no. 39 is a complete work and there are sample pages from many of the pieces in Volume 1.

19.01.2022 Thanks to the good people at Green Jam at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre for making our show a fun-great occasion! Thanks also to the two Lachlans for their inspiring playing! Three excerpts from the gig here. https://youtu.be/MZZZSeV5ChU
18.01.2022 This is one of my pieces (no. 2) from "Once Around the Sun" (279 pieces in collection so far!). Entitled "Cliff and Moon" it was inspired by a moon rise I witnessed in the Atherton Tablelands after a performance. The tablelands have an abrupt horizon from where I was driving so the moon had edged up wierdly with spectral clouds.
18.01.2022 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lmX0O2HB43w This is a video recording of the premiere of my piece for violin, clarinet, piano and audio (filtered recording of the Sun!) The trio Plexus performed this in 2013 in Melbourne. The piece was well received and I do want to say that this music is not for the faint hearted! The music and its title is a reference to the presence of audio of the vibrations of our sun, Sol, transposed up 300,000 octaves! THese audio segments appear at t...he start and other places in the piece along with the instruments sometimes mimicking them. The piece is brazen and unforgiving but a lot of fun. The sound gives a fair representation though the camera image was bad in the concert hall light. Notes follow: The audio file used as the introduction to the work is also its primary inspiration. These are my own mix of several filtered and transposed audio files prepared by scientists at the University of Birmingham using helioseismology. (Bison - Birmingham Solar Oscillations Network. see: http://bison.ph.bham.ac.uk/index.php?page=bison) My thanks to Graham Verner and Brek Miller for their assistance and permission to use these in my work. The piece is inspired by these recordings but does not convey anything more than music. This is my first work deliberately using the Ten Forms of Change model (attributed to Coker 1972). I discovered these several years ago by reading Kim Stanley Robinson's futuristic novel The Memory of Whiteness. The novel follows the development of Sol system's premiere composer/performer using the 10 Forms in his work, realising that they are linked intrinsically with the fundamental reality of our universe. I have been periodically using these descriptions of musical change consciously in my composing and improvising as articulated strategies to direct creativity. Nonetheless, I do not adhere only to devices for their own sake, but instead, use them to foster my organic approach to composing. So, though I am conscious of specific strategies in composing, I essentially take a path of growth, where new musical ideas and concepts direct development, placement and contexts. My warmest thanks to the lovely and highly skilled people who make up Plexus. They too, understand the importance of providing new musical realities for our fellow humans to experience and explore.

16.01.2022 This video was shot a few years ago. It is a piece that is spontaneously composed. This means that within the act of improvisation, I directly address musical form and structure whilst playing so that the piece has repetition in the appropriate places. Hope you enjoy it!
16.01.2022 I am teaming up with Italian/Australian jazz guitar virtuoso Andrea Vocaturo for a new duo to play great Jazz, beautiful Bossas and popular standards in southeast Queensland venues and festivals. Different combination of instruments and varied approaches results in some fun music. Enjoy our brief demo video! v://youtu.be/HAtSOUArOWw

09.01.2022 This is one of my pieces from "Once Around the Sun" (188 pieces in collection so far!).
