24.01.2022 Get into the spirit of giving this festive season by donating to our Brisbane Libraries Christmas Goodwill Food Drive, to help feed Queenslanders in need this Christmas. To make a donation, drop off packets of dried rice, pasta, tinned spaghetti or tinned baked beans to your local library between 1 and 31 December 2020. 24.01.2022 Pay a visit to Santa’s Stopover at South Bank from 18-23 December to see Santa and Mrs Claus spreading Christmas cheer! You’ll have the chance to snap (socially distanced!) photos with Santa under the iconic fig tree fairy lights and enjoy free kids crafts and storytelling. 09.01.2022 Community Service Announcements Higher than normal high tides may be experienced in foreshore and riverside locations on Sunday, 13 December 2020 to Wednesday, 16 December 2020. Residents in areas prone to localised flooding due to high tides are advised to avoid parking their cars on the street during these times.... If required, sandbags are available for collection from the following locations: Darra - 38 Shamrock Road, Darra Morningside - 9 Redfern Street, Morningside Newmarket - 66 Wilston Road (in carpark off Erneton Street), Newmarket Zillmere - 33 Jennings Street, Zillmere Lota - Herbert Street, Lota. Temporary traffic changes in Fortitude Valley, due to emergency Energex works to repair a high voltage cable. Closures to remain in place until Sunday: 2 left turn lanes from McLachlan St into James St 2 lanes on James St towards Ann St Bus lane and adjacent inbound lane on Ann St at McLachlan St. Please expect traffic congestion and delays - avoid the area if you can. Police and traffic controllers on site. Aerial mosquito treatment planned for around 9am, Thursday 10 Dec, covering Hemmant area along Bulimba Creek (weather permitting).
