23.01.2022 The kindy children have been very interested yoga and this morning Regina and Alisha from Yogazeit came to share their yoga knowledge. The children explored different yoga positions such as the dog, the cow and the disco cat. The children made mindful jars and talked about their emotions. They also played a game of yoga statues. Regina finished the session with some relation and mindfulness. The children focused on their breathing and were given an eye cloud and feather to help them relax. The service also received the very kind gift of a singing bowl. Thank you Regina and Alisha for coming to LECC today.

19.01.2022 This year, Leederville Early Childhood Centre will again be collecting for Foodbank WA. West Australians have accessed food assistance in record numbers in 2020 with food relief charities recording a 61% increase since the start of COVID-19. In fact, Foodbank ran very low on food in March and opened for the first time on the weekend to accept "drive through" donations. We have some boxes by the front door to accept any donations. Please no food with nuts or anything out of date.

19.01.2022 Normally when the National Simultaneous Storytime happens, we walk up to the City of Vincent library to hear a story, usually read by the Mayor, Emma Cole. Things are a bit different this year and we just read the book here at LECC. Whitney and Britney Chicken Divas is a gorgeous tale of chickens, singing and lots of bling. Written by Australian author Lucinda Gifford, it is a quality addition to any child's library.

12.01.2022 The kindy children have been very interested in sea creatures since Science Week so today some of them walked down to Kailis Bros in Leederville for a behind the scenes tour and lunch. They posted some coffee pods on the way down before being met by Mickey who showed the children where they would be having lunch. Dan showed them the fish and they were allowed to touch them as they were wearing gloves. He also showed them how to cut up fish properly. Dan was very patient and ...answered all of the children's questions. Then it was time to sit down and have fish and chips for lunch with prawns and squid rings! Sounds delicious. As you know there is lots of building going on in our neighbourhood so the children watched the builders who waved from up high. Next week on Thursday the rest of the kindy children will go down as we all adhere to COVID safety plans. See more

10.01.2022 Last night the team gathered for some training on Child Protection and Mandatory Reporting that was delivered by Justine O' Malley from WA Child Safety Services-WACSS. Justine spoke with the team regarding their responsibilities around child protection and remaining vigilant about responding to signs or indicators of abuse. This professional learning meets element 2.3.4 of Quality Area 2: Children's Health and Safety. Thank you Justine for sharing your knowledge with us.

07.01.2022 Book Week 2020: This week is the rescheduled Book Week for 2020. The theme is Curious Creatures, Wild Minds. We have purchased many of the shortlisted books with My Friend Fred by Frances Watts being the Early Childhood Book of the year. Today the kindy children went to the library where they were met by the librarian Liz who read them stories and gave each child a small gift. The team dressed up as crayons today, inspired by the book, The Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt.

07.01.2022 Anna leaves us to today after more than 20 years here at Leederville Early Childhood Centre. Anna is looking forward to her daughter's wedding at the end of the year and spending her retirement travelling Australia (eventually). She has supported many children and families through inclusion at LECC. We will miss you Anna and hope you will come back to read stories, make pasta and help us with our Italian

05.01.2022 Tomorrow is Halloween and some of the team dressed up. Many of the children have too, with ghosts, witches and pumpkins running through the centre. If you want to see an amazing house, 7 Bauer Street in Cannington is helping raise money from Autism WA. Have fun and be safe

02.01.2022 National Science Week runs from 15th to 23rd August this year. The theme is Deep Blue: innovation for the future of our oceans.
