25.01.2022 We've turned our Chancellery building orange to support 16 Days in WA to Stop Violence Against Women. The initiative starts today, on 25 November (the International day for the Elimination of Violence against Women) and finishes on 10 December (Human Rights Day): https://s.ecu.edu.au/375yAl1 We all have a responsibility to prevent violence, call it out when we see it and provide support to those affected. If someone is acting inappropriately, call it out.... If you are concerned about someone, ask if they are ok. Believe reports of violence. Offer support, not suspicion or blame. Calling out inappropriate language and behaviour can be hard and uncomfortable, and should not come at the expense of your own safety. If you need support, please visit: www.1800respect.org.au/

22.01.2022 We will be lighting up our Chancellery building purple today, to recognise World Prematurity Day. An estimated 15 million babies are born preterm around the world each year. Buildings are lit up globally on this date to show support and help raise awareness.

08.01.2022 What does ‘accessibility’ mean to you? For ECU it means making learning experiences inclusive and available to everyone. International Day of People with Disability is held annually on 3 December. It provides an important opportunity to raise awareness about disability, the barriers that people with disability can face and increase the understanding of how we as individuals and communities can create more accessible and inclusive environments. To celebrate International Day o...f People with Disability, ECU will be hosting an event with Prue Hawkins LLB, BA as our guest speaker. Prue is a respected disability discrimination lawyer, and founder and principal of Empire Law. She is an engaging speaker, drawing upon her legal expertise and lived experience as a wheelchair user to provide insights into access and inclusion within education, employment and society: https://s.ecu.edu.au/3nElyBn See more
