24.01.2022 SHOW ANNOUNCEMENT WMTC is excited to finally be back in the rehearsal room with a brand new show. With all the COVID restrictions placed on the entertainment industry right now it’s been heartbreaking for us not to be able to have our members on stage, doing what they love - performing for you. We have, however, been working hard to find ways to put on a show that is COVID safe under the NSW restrictions, not only for the audience, but also for our members performing.... It’s been an especially tough year for our junior members with home schooling, reduced socialising, limited creative outlets available and of course the disappointment of cancelled shows. With that in mind, we have put together our very own Christmas musical and have invited our junior members to be a part of it. Written and directed by our President Julie Young, ‘Wherefore Art Thou, Christmas?' The Musical is an original, fun story, combined with Christmas songs that everyone knows and loves. Set in Santa’s workshop, our juniors will bring 2020 to a close with plenty of Christmas Spirit! (Vocal coaching by Jess Carter and Brett Perkins) As a show of gratitude to all the junior members who rehearsed so hard for the cancelled 2020 productions, we have offered them places in this small COVID-safe production. Therefore there will be no auditions for this production. We are excited for future productions in 2021 as restrictions continue to ease. Tickets go on sale tomorrow morning from 9am with tickets only at $20. Dates include: Friday 4th Dec, 7pm Sunday 6th Dec, 2pm and 5pm

19.01.2022 So many people guessed Lachlan's 'Draw Me a Musical' correctly! 'Be More Chill' is a musical with original music and lyrics by Joe Iconis, based on the 2004 novel of the same name by Ned Vizzini. This Broadway musical officially opened in March, 2019. It's a high-energy show with incredible songs. If you haven't had a listen, do yourself a favour and enjoy! This time, Annilise and her beautiful dog, Luna, are having their turn at WMTC's 'Draw Me a Musical'. Good luck with your guessing!

14.01.2022 Happy Father’s Day from all of us at WMTC

13.01.2022 Congratulations to WMTC member Grace who was accepted into NIDA's Bachelor of Technical Theatre and Stage Management today. Grace has worked on a number of shows for WMTC over the past few years as well as for other community theatre companies on the Coast since she was 14. She is currently Stage Manager for our upcoming 'Wherefore Art Thou, Christmas? The Musical', which is likely to be the last production she will be involved in before embarking on her studies. We wish you the very best on your theatre journey.

12.01.2022 The Sound of Music 1997 - A little PIC-TRIP down the WMTC memory lane. MUSICAL THEATRE 101: This quote explains musical theatre - every character has their individual purpose and their own reason to sing and THAT’S why they exist in that scene and in that moment. Focus on that END GOAL. If the audiences FEELS and SEES nothing, they’ll get nothing. Dig deep into that reason, let the audience understand it and you’ve just created a relatable, memorable and (usually) endearing character! Were you part of this production? Were you lucky enough to see it? Share your stories and experiences in the comments below!

09.01.2022 Two years ago, on the 28th September 2018, WMTC began its show run of the musical ‘Me and My Girl’ at the Grove Theatre. Set in the 1930s, this musical tells of cockney, Bill Snibson, discovering he is the 14th heir to the Earl of Hareford. With songs like ‘Leaning on a Lamp-post’ and ‘The Lambeth Walk’, this energetic and colourful production received rave reviews and had audiences cheering for more. Directed by Peter Hellier and Assistant Director Adelle Richards, support...ed by their incredible production team, WMTC and everyone involved had a ball with this wonderfully uplifting theatre experience. Please share your memories of this production below in the comments. Photo acknowledgement goes to the remarkable Duane Shore for these production shots.
