12.01.2022 Hey there new friends! I thought I’d take a chance to introduce myself, and follow the advice we give all our clients - Be personal, show yourself and engage. But holy f it’s hard to just sit down and write a few words about yourself!... I’ll start with the basics: I’m a Graphic/Web designer. I have run my own business for the last 4yrs (I’ve probably aged about 40yrs) I’m currently study my Marketing degree so that we can deliver the best marketing techniques and advice to you! I’m slightly in ‘unnormal’ whose favourite colour is white as I can’t choose between them plus it’s a safe clean colour for an OCD design nerd. I love wine and gin (keeps me semi sane), my favourite food is cucumber. I was born in Zimbabwe and lived in this beautiful country for nearly 12yrs. The biggest highlight this year for 89 Digital Street is finally settling on my forever business name and officially become an employee! 09.01.2022 We all have those days/weeks where it seems nothing is going our way. Have you tried getting up and changing direction? We did this and haven't looked back! What do you need to change or what do you feel is not going right for you?
08.01.2022 The entire reason for Instagram IS the pictures, so photography is definitely one of the most important things to consider. Facebook is less about the images and more about the posts, but it's always best to remain consistent and come across as professional. We urge our clients to spend the extra for professional photography (we even have our own in house product photographer) but we understand sometimes this isn't viable for a startup. So what should you consider when trying... to take your own photos? Use natural light always! Nothing looks worse than harsh yellow lighting in a photo. Not too dark, not too light. Add exposure to your images in apps like Lightroom (free for mobile) but don't over expose them! Don't shoot in direct sun light, it looks terrible! Try shoot outdoors when it's overcast or cloudy, or during Golden Hour (look this up for your location) The rule of thirds. Imagine a grid on your image, does your subject only fill a third of this grid? Perfect! (P.s most phones can have a grid turned on in camera) Don't use Zoom on a phone camera, you will always end up with a low quality image. Avoid clutter! No one wants to see a messy background in an image, it draws attention away from the subject and looks unprofesional. Use sports mode on your phone camera, blurry photos should never be posted! We hope this helps!!!

05.01.2022 When creating a clients branding we always reccomend having a few colours. This gives plenty of opportunity for the designs to be super pared back or make more of a statement. Plan on choosing 3-5 colours Your base, accents and a neutral. Even monochrome schemes should have some variation in hues for different purposes.... Base Your base colour should reflect not only your brand personality’s most dominant trait, but also appeal to the target. Accents Choose your accent, are you bright and bold or muted? Compliment or contrast. Neutral Your neutral colours are generally used as a background colour, something chosen to avoid attention. Normally hues of white, beige grey or black.

04.01.2022 Why is no one commenting on my posts? Well do you comment on theirs? No seriously, the way the Instagram Algorithm works means that to get seen, you need to first show up. Reply to their stories, hit up their posts, leave them a bunch of hearts.. It will draw their attention to your account, and in turn Instagram will know that they want to see your account! Do this with accounts you follow, but don't forget to also target accounts that are your ideal customer. Search hashta...gs in your niche, or by location, and spread the love! Don't have the time?
