Lance attended many meetings, world wide, for promotion of 8-ball pool, over a number of years. He eventually was to see cue sports recognized by the Olympic Movement via General Assembly Sports Federation. Up until the last 4-5 years, Lance attended most EDPL meetings, as well as attending the EDPL office regularly during the week to keep up to date with all that was going on & to help out when he could. Unfortunately due to ailing health, Lance was no longer able to attend the EDPL office or meetings, but he regularly kept in touch with lengthy phone calls & emails, keeping us on our toes, & making sure we were looking after his baby, EDPL. Lance was the King of EDPL! Everybody knew him. The Lance Sheen Perpetual Trophy was a major annual tournament, with many competitors vying for the trophy named in Lance’s honour. Lance loved to attend EDPL finals, whether he was playing, umpiring, helping out on an Executive level, or just spectating! He worked the room, & would get around to chat to as many people as he could, he loved the atmosphere. His friend circle within the pool community was immense. Lance was one of a kind, and a pioneer in 8-Ball, and along with his wife Lauri, he made our league what it is today, 47 years later! Lance will be sadly missed, and I’m sure we’ll be talking about him for many more years to come. ~ RIP Lance ~

09.01.2022 Eightball Tasmania is pleased to inform Associations that it is no longer a requirement that during OFFICIAL ROSTER MATCHES & CHAMPIONSHIPS that we are no longer required the wipe down the tables after ever frame. The tables now should be wiped down PRIOR TO STARTING at the CONCLUSION OF THE MATCHES. While all the other restrictions remain in place such as hand sanitizing, social distancing, no high fives etc, so please abide by these and this will help to keep everyone safe. This ONLY applies to our organized roster matches and championships. Venues & Venue Operators are still responsible to follow the COVID-19 regulations under their COVID-19 safety plan in regard to "Social 8 Ball".

09.01.2022 (From another post, but all makes sense) - Hi All, we understand what everyone is saying and the restrictions and procedures we have to follow seem at times over the top and especially compared to some other sports / activities. In the end we have been given the green light to play competition 8ball and these were the restrictions that were approved by Sport and Rec and Sports Australia (Return to Sport) that have allowed us to do that. We have fought so hard to be able to play, let’s just play pool as best we can and get back to what we love, the restrictions / guidelines will not take that much adjusting to and in the end if you do not wish to play competition 8ball then that is your decision to make. In the end though we hope all players / teams and more come back on board to play and have a social night out with their mates.

08.01.2022 The funeral for Lance Sheen will be held on Thursday at 1.00pm the link to the Live stream is below for those that would like to pay their respects.

05.01.2022 With the State Govt & Health Dept allowing all 8 Ball including "Competition" 8 ball to be played we have tonight sent all Eightball Tasmania's Affiliated Associations our approved 'Guidelines for the Return to Competition 8 Ball'. These guidelines/documents were approved by Tasmanian Sport and Recreation and also form part of Sport Australia (Return to Sport). Without these approvals we would be unable to play 'Competition Sport' and have the approval to play.

05.01.2022 The Australian EightBall Federation held their AGM on Saturday. A new board was voted in. See the letter below... At this meeting the States & Territories voted to CANCEL the 2020 Senior Nationals and play the 2021 Nationals in Albury to fulfill the current sponsorship agreement. The 2021 Junior Nationals were also postponed to a date later in 2021, that date will be decided next year when more information is available.

05.01.2022 Eightball Tasmania have been busy in the background working with Tasmania Sport and Recreation (Tasmanian Government) on what will be required for - 1. The State Body to resume at some stage. (No confirmed date at this stage, we would like to run Open, Womens and Masters Singles titles) 2. Member Associations of Eightball Tasmania for competition play. We have been advised that the main body and our member association will all need a COVID-19 Safety Plan and the plan to be ap...proved to return to a competition basis in the future. We hope to have a model Safety COVID-19 Plan distributed in the next week to our members to recommend you will adopt. It will be up to each Association on what they may decide to do with the plan, but will give our members some guidance. Reminder to member associations we would assume you will also need to work closely with your venues on rules when and if you return to a competition basis - Thank you Tony for your help in putting this together so far.
