25.01.2022 Sincere condolences this evening go out to the Wall family following the terrible news of the passing of William Wall, whose Dad - Shane is a much loved and respected part of the 944 Challenge team. As part of Traction Tyres, Shane has been a constant at the racetrack for many years helping us all go racing as a supporter, advisor and friend to our competitors for a very long time. On behalf of the entire 944 Racing Association, we have you and your family in our thoughts during this incredibly difficult time. Much love to you all.

25.01.2022 Well the cat is now out of the bag!! The Porsche 944 Challenge will be joining the AMRS for the next two rounds at Winton Motor Raceway, and also heading back to Sandown at the end of August! Huge thanks to Matt and all the team at AMRS for allowing us to join us in on the bill for both events! Can’t wait to get back on the track in August!!

24.01.2022 The final race of the weekend was a 10 lap reverse grid handicap event for the Dennis O'Keefe Cup with 13 cars taking the start. Keith Marriner and Andy Jones were first away, although Jamie Westaway clearly missed the memo and left when that pair at the front went - despite driving past the two rows of cars stationary in front of him! Jamie quickly got himself into the lead and pulled away but the inevitable black flag was shown and he pulled in to retire at the end of lap ...Continue reading

21.01.2022 Important news regarding the 2020 Season.

20.01.2022 As was expected with the announcement yesterday from the Victorian Government regarding the Melbourne lockdown, unfortunately there has been no choice but to cancel the Winton Round scheduled for August 1/2. The good news, is that the 6 week lockdown timeframe will lift in time for Sandown on August 28-30. Those who have entered for Winton, will be able to have your entry carried over to the Sandown event. For those who hadn’t entered yet, entry forms will be emailed out soon. Then cross your fingers, and stay isolated and hope we can go racing by the end of next month!!

20.01.2022 The lovely Summer afternoon continued on for the third and final race of Round 1 of the Porsche 944 Challenge which was proudly presented by Smiths TMP as part of the Victorian State Race Series with 17 cars fronting up to the startline after exhaust repairs were affected to the cars of the two Andy's - Jones & Tudor. The late schedule meant John Morrow had to depart the track early so would not take his spot on the grid, nor would John Vainoras who was still unhappy with the...Continue reading

17.01.2022 To keep our minds stimulated until we can get back on track - here’s some light maths for everyone to help get your brains working again

17.01.2022 A quick 5 lap race was the first after qualifying, and able to get a good start and convert to a race win was pole sitter John Kennedy, taking the win by 2.5 seconds over a hard charging Jamie Westaway who made a great recovery after dropping down the pack with gearbox issues affecting him off the start. Rounding out the podium was Dick Howe in third place, with Cameron Beller and Tony Westaway hot on his heels at the end of the five laps in fourth and fifth respectively. M...ark Taubitz was next in sixth, ahead of Adam Brewer who had a strong drive from the back of the grid after missing qualifying to finish seventh. Rob Holding was next in eighth position, frustrated after throwing away a chance at a podium finish when he ventured off track at Southern loop when in the midst of the battle with Howe, Beller and Westaway. Ninth position went to Marius Catrina after moving up to seventh position early, but slipped back behind Taubitz and Brewer, just holding out Daniel Petselis who recorded a strong time that would have put him sixth on the grid. Manny Mezzasalma was just behind Petselis in eleventh position, with a gap back to Keith Marriner and Andy Jones who slipped back after also having an excursion to the Southern Loop gravel. An unfortunate DNF for Pedr James after a strong start and moved up to sixth behind the Beller/ Howe / Westaway battle, sticking on their tail before gearbox woes ended his race on the run out of Siberia corner on lap 3. Unable to take the start were Jim Mitchell who would be back for Race 2, while John Vainoras joined Peter Doherty on the sidelines for the rest of the day. #bcre #advancefitness #avitechnology #westbonmanagement #seattimeracesolutions #seattime #poolmaster #poolmasterbayside #smithstmp #tmp #hiredepot #porschepyramid #porsche #944 #porsche944 #944challenge #944racing #944turbo #944cup #racing #stateracing #vicstateracing #motorsport #shannons #motorsportaustralia #motorsportaustraliachampionships #carracing #simracing #yokohama #tractiontyres

16.01.2022 While things might have been quiet of late due to the COVID 19 outbreak, there have been some plans being discussed off the record for a return to the race track as soon as possible. And a solution and loophole has been found! This will enable rounds 2 & 3 of the 2020 944 Challenge season to take place! With tracks being closed, a deal has been struck with Winton Raceway to allow each competitor to attend the circuit on the day of their choosing in the month of April (round ...2) and May (round 3) to run a day of testing and then a 20 minute qualifying session to determine their fastest lap time. Due to social distancing, only one competitor will be allowed to attend the circuit on the day, so each driver will choose the day they wish to attend the circuit. From there, we have found some very advanced simulator software which will allow the times from qualifying for all drivers to be put into the software and the simulated race results will be calculated, taking into account the drivers history with mechanical failures, likelihood to come into contact with other competitors, time drop off etc. This will then be translated to be broadcast as a simulated ‘e-race’ and will be filmed and broadcast as per round 1 and prepared online for viewing! The attached pic is taken from an alpha test of the software and race simulation being undertaken. This is a great opportunity to get out in our cars and not interrupt the season!! Thanks to all our sponsors, and to Winton Winton Motor Raceway to help get this great idea off the ground!!! Entries will be open soon and entry forms emailed to all competitors!

10.01.2022 The forecast was grim before qualifying for Round 1 of the Porsche 944 Challenge which was proudly presented by Smiths TMP as part of the Victorian State Race Series, however -the skies had cleared up and the track was drying as the field of 19 cars set out on track. Defending Champion Cameron Beller returned with the coveted #1 on his car and after a pole position streak looked to start his 2020 season with his first pole position, but he was to be denied after a blistering ...Continue reading

After missing out on Pole position, Cameron Beller got the jump off the start to lead into turn 1 while Jamie Westaway slipped back to fourth position from the Pole spot. 04.01.2022 After the inclement weather on Saturday, Sunday brought perfect weather for racing for the second race of Round 1 of the Porsche 944 Challenge which was proudly presented by Smiths TMP as part of the Victorian State Race Series. All 19 entrants were going to the startline with the welcome addition of the #32 car of John Vainoras joining the field after missing Saturdays action. 03.01.2022 Race 2 was brought to an early end, but it didn't stop John Kennedy from making it 2 from 2 as he raced to a comfortable victory. Behind him was where the action was, as a battle was on in earnest for second place with Cameron Beller ultimately taking the second position, with Adam Brewer glued to his rear bumper in third position after a great start moved him up to fourth midway through the first lap from seventh on the grid. Tony Westaway triumphed in his battle for fourt...h with Rob Holding who finished fifth in a Westaway sandwich with Jamie Westaway in sixth position after he again suffered without second gear and dropped back at the start. Seventh position went to Marius Catrina who held a small margin at the finish over Manny Mezzasalma who crossed the line in eighth position. Not far behind them crossing the line in ninth position was Jim Mitchell, who had a comfortable margin to Keith Marriner who rounded out the top ten. Eleventh position went to Daniel Petselis, after a spin at MG corner on lap 3 dropped him down the order from a strong seventh position, with Andy Jones rounding out the finishers in twelfth position. Not finishing the race was Dick Howe, who went off track on the exit of turn 1 while sitting in a comfortable second position and bounded across the gravel on the outside of turn 2 - ultimately finding the tire wall bringing his weekend to a premature end. Also not finishing was Mark Taubitz, as his engine went off song and shut down on the approach to turn 1 on the second lap while running 5th in the middle of the Beller/Brewer/Holding/Westaway battle, with Holding fortunately able to avoid the slowing #74 machine which pulled off on the outside of the circuit on the entrance to turn 4. 1 more to go! Could Kennedy make it a clean sweep? #bcre #advancefitness #avitechnology #westbonmanagement #seattimeracesolutions #seattime #poolmaster #poolmasterbayside #smithstmp #tmp #hiredepot #porschepyramid #porsche #944 #porsche944 #944challenge #944racing #944turbo #944cup #racing #stateracing #vicstateracing #motorsport #shannons #motorsportaustralia #motorsportaustraliachampionships #carracing #yokohama #tractiontyres

01.01.2022 The first weekend back on track racing in Victoria following COVID-19 last weekend at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit was a huge success! 17 cars fronted up for qualifying on Sunday morning after the last-minute withdrawal of Toni Andreevski. Drivers took time getting used to both the car and the circuit which was green with no rubber having been laid down for the last 8 months. Taking Pole position was John Kennedy with a 1:50.9591, nudging out Jamie Westaway who was...Continue reading
