21.01.2022 This weeks CHOW is the Kettlebell Swing. Guideline of recommended weight to use: * 8kg - Ladies * 12kg - Men * 16kg - Beasts... Some info for you, there are 2 types of movements you can do with a kettlebell and they are Grind or Ballistic. The "grind" movements are slow, controlled pressing, pulling or squatting exercises. These exercises are distinguished by the need for constant tension on the muscles. The "Ballistic" movement are dynamic, explosive, multi-joint exercises. These exercises are normally performed within a wide range of motion and incorporate a large number of muscles. A Kettlebell Swing falls into the "Ballistic" category along with the Snatch, Clean and Jerk exercises. These exercises when performed correctly use momentum to assist in the execution of the movement, this allows for the use of heavier weight then that of a Grind movement. Important to remember! When performing a Kettlebell Swing the movement comes from hinging at the hips (similar to doing a deadlift) targeting the glutes and hamstrings as primary muscles whilst engaging the core and lats as secondary. Chest to the floor at the bottom of the burpee, whether that's a push up from your knees or toes, as long as you are going through the full range of motion and getting the most out of the exercise.... 18.01.2022 SUICIDE SPRINTS A high-intensity sprinting drill, suicides consist of running to multiple progressively distant lines, within a set, as fast as you can. Speed, endurance and agility are all highlighted when running suicides as they test your ability to push through mental and physical fatigue to meet your goal. Suicides can be done almost anywhere -- at the park, in the gym, at a yoga studio or on a tennis or basketball court -- all you need are running shoes and some props t...o serve as markers. 17.01.2022 INGREDIENTS 220g (1 cup) dried black beans, rinsed, drained 2 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil 1 large brown onion, finely chopped 2 celery sticks, finely chopped ... 2 garlic cloves, crushed 2 teaspoons ground cumin 2 teaspoons sweet paprika 1/2 teaspoon dried chilli flakes 400g can crushed tomatoes 1.25L (5 cups) water 300g sweet potato, peeled, chopped 1 large sweet corn cob, kernels removed 2 tablespoons fresh coriander leaves, chopped 1 long fresh green chilli, deseeded, finely chopped Lime wedges, to serve METHOD Place black beans in a large saucepan. Cover with enough cold water to come 5cm above beans. Bring to the boil over medium/high heat. Cook for 10 minutes. Drain well. Meanwhile, heat oil in a large non-stick frying pan over medium heat. Cook onion and celery, stirring, for 5 minutes or until soft. Add garlic, cumin, paprika and chilli. Cook, stirring, for 1 minute or until aromatic. Place onion mixture, beans, tomato and water in a large (6L) slow cooker. Cover. Cook on low for 7 hours. Add sweet potato and corn. Cover. Cook for a further 1 hour or until potato is tender and soup is thick. Season. Combine coriander and green chilli in a bowl. Divide soup among bowls. Top with coriander mixture. Serve with lime. 16.01.2022 FACE MASKS IN CLUB Firstly we would like to say thank you for your patience and understanding with the requirement for masks in the club. Everyone has been doing an amazing job remembering to bring and wear their mask even though it's quite challenging at times. We have had some updated information on mask requirements which may make it a little easier for you over the next week or so.... Update as follows: - Please wear your mask while entering and exiting the club - Because a 9Round Circuit is essentially HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) it can be quite hard to breathe with a mask on so, you can remove your mask when exercising indoors where you are out of breath or puffing. - Trainers are required to wear a mask at all times. We hope this makes things a little clearer for you all, if you have any questions feel free to ask, don't let the mask requirements stop you from getting in your training. If you wish to wear it the whole time feel free to do so, if you are struggling for breath while training you are allowed to remove it so you can breathe freely, also continue social distancing as normal.

12.01.2022 HIGH-INTENSITY INTERVAL TRAINING What is it exactly? It involves short periods of intense anaerobic exercise with less intense recovery periods. Usually lasting from 20 - 30 minutes.... So at 9Round with our 3 minute rounds and 30 second recovery periods it is designed to bring your heart rate up, let it recover and repeat until you have completed 9 rounds in total, 30 minutes. This method of training works extremely well with the guidance of your Myzone Heart Rate Monitor. During the first 2.5 minutes of a round you want to be in the high green to mid yellow zones. The last 30 seconds of the round you want to be in the high yellow to red zones. During the 30 second recovery you want to drop back down to green or even blue zones if you have a fast recovery rate. Try using your Myzone to next time you're in club to maximise your 9Round workout and make the most out of the training style and technology to compliment each other in helping you strengthen your cardiovascular system. Bonus for you, here is a HIIT workout for you to do if for some reason you couldn't get into the club but have some time at home.

Whenever we are open you can come and jump into the circuit at the start of a new round, only 3 mins wait at most, which should be enough time for you to wrap your hands or do a few dynamic stretches to prepare yourself.... So don't get locked into set times or miss out on classes because you had to book, just rock up like a super star and jump in Make sure to give yourself at least 30 mins before close to get a full workout in.
