25.01.2022 Mortgage broking has never been easy. The brokers are there to assist their clients to get the loans. Often the speed of getting approvals are not really there, as being third party, credit underwriting goes through a different process from branch finance managers. Yet brokers would work hard for their clients and acting to the best of the clients interest.... Hearing the recommendations of the Royal Commission today is indeed disappointing. Going on a consumer-pays-model whe...re banks no longer pay mortgage broker commissions could have serious effect on the broking industry. This will only give more power to the major lenders and reduce competition for the banks and this will cost the consumer more. The stories heard at the Royal Commission were about how the Banks had treated customers unfairly, yet at the final verdict, it is not the Banks which are being penalised, but the mortgage brokers who are the small minority. Many are self employed businesses offering the consumer choice, guidance and support. While the Final Report of the Royal Commission are still recommendations and/or may take time to implement (2020?), may I encourage everyone to support your brokers!! #PleaseSupportYourMortgageBroker!! As mentioned in Governor Philip Lowe’s official statement, the economy is going through a very difficult period and is experiencing the biggest contraction since the 1930s. As difficult as this is, the downturn is not as severe as earlier expected and a recovery is now under way in most of Australia...
