16.01.2022 Our local garbo's are at risk of being forced to do the same job for significantly reduced pay and conditions if the tender is awarded without wage guarantees moving forward. Our Garbos work hard and are fellow rate payers with families to support. If a new company wins the tender, it's likely that the same people will do the same job, just in a different uniform - and for some reason that means that they deserve less pay and conditions? Time is running out to add your voice ...to this campaign - the only way council will listen is if local people are willing to stand up for their local garbo. Our Garbos have been essential workers throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, keeping our streets and our communities clean at a time when that has never been more critical. They should not be punished due to an administrative decision by Council. Transport workers like the Garbos on the Sunshine Coast shouldn't be worried that they'll get a pay cut when they're doing the same job, often driving the same truck, in the same area - all because a company decided to undercut the competition. Sunshine Coast Council needs to come clean about what they plan to do with the waste contract - make sure you sign the petition today. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/S5RV9GL
