10.01.2022 This is my least favourite photo of myself ever, but I kind of like what the photo represents: Self-discipline and commitment. This is me running my 75th parkrun on Saturday at Mt Barker. It was wet. Very wet. It was a bit windy and pretty cold. 5 degrees cold. The week before had been minus 2 at start time. ... I go to parkrun every week - rain or shine. (I haven’t experienced hail yet). I like to volunteer at least once a month, and run the other weeks. I’m not a morning person, and it’s extremely hard to get myself out of bed in the middle of winter to go running, but I do it anyway. And so does my husband. We have never said Gee, I wish we hadn’t bothered this morning, because we always feel good afterwards. Parkrun is on every week. It’s free, and if I don’t turn up I’m not letting anyone down. No-one’s telling me I have to be there. I make the choice to go. I choose to include it as part of my weekly fitness program - and I love it! Winter is hard for everyone, but choosing to honour your personal commitments to health and fitness, and not allowing excuses to derail your progress is so important.
