24.01.2022 Flower Power "Wire Buddies" best friends with succulents.

21.01.2022 Tapestry on a cushion I made.

21.01.2022 These photo's were taken at Easter time in our light filled glass house. Although not religious, but spiritual, I have a deep passion for religious iconography .Beatles wire sculpture, titled "Cross my Heart" is over laid on a vintage print of Jesus. This "one off" crucifix can be purchased at my shop. The somewhat abstract photo of Madonna and child shows the layers of reflection through to stain-glass windows. Another passion of mine is glass and the way the play of light reflects.

21.01.2022 Having fun creating a vintage vignette.

17.01.2022 I,m finally getting myself on the map, the Imag map that is. As of next month there will be a Vintage trail, an idea i came up with a couple of years ago.I,d like Bermagui to be known as The Vintage Village and people need to know where we are. I must admit I,m astounded that not many locals know how to give directions to the Industrial Area which is where I,m tucked away. This map will solve that problem.I met a wonderful girl from W.A. on the weekend, she persevered by aski...ng 4 people how to find me, and was wrapped when she did. Spending at least an hour in my shop, and finding some treasures, it left us both smilling.Regulations stop me from having a sign in town, but when I,m open there are 4 signs, starting on the main drag next to the Industrial information sign, that lead you to where i am.Just follow the pink signs.Kim and Mikes Mudworks are just down the road, so after you,ve visited me you can go and have cake and coffee, we are a destination.Be a devil and take a 4 minute drive out of town and see what else is happening behind the scenes. 15.01.2022 Giving thanks for everything wonderful in my life

15.01.2022 This week is International Recycle week. When we think recycle, generally its on a weekly basis when we have to decide which garbage should we place our rubbish, red, yellow or green garbage bin. I must admit I'm addicted to recycling. The kids laughed at me one time when I was seen to be washing up disposable cups.I exclaimed , why throw something away when it can be used again. Past generations were pretty good at salvaging things.I can remember in my early childhood, my gra...ndmothers pantry would have bottles of sauce up turned to get the last skerrick of sauce. I suppose this was'nt recycling, but it stuck in my mind to not be wastefull.I have a keen eye for up-cycling and for others that do , they to know how good it feels to do so. I have been a collector basically all my life and now I'm able to carry that on with what i sell in my shop.Vintage is very trendy now and if it wasn,t for us recyclers everything would be in land fill,.I,m astounded how many people come into my shop and say, `I wish i hadn't thrown that out `, exclaiming they use to have that item. We expect things to be around forever, but we are a throw away society and if we keep this up there will be no quality items to be had. They don't make things like they use to.I hope that the vintage trend is not just a trend and is a way of thinking. The folk that visit my shop love it, so even if they don,t need anything for themselves, i encourage them to think recycle for a christmas or birthday gift, the reciever will get a unique piece of history, or maybe an heirloom. Food for thought, bye Chris Spring See more

14.01.2022 Wishing everyone a safe and Happy New YearA "little Bird Told ME" will open again on 2nd Jan

11.01.2022 Home Sweet Home, it's nice to be back. It's interesting when your body gets transported to a different place and climate, especially when your in the presence of your spiritual teacher. It was a bit surreal at first. I feel very fortunate on many different levels; not only did i get to experience ancient Tibetan teachings in the auspicious Glass House Mts, but i caught up with so many people i hadn't seen for a while, all gathering at the same retreat.Words can't explain this ...experience. I stayed in Caloundra with some old friends, starting the day with a swim in there pool, ending the day with good food and a glass of wine.A stay in Sydney before returning home, spending quality time with my daughter and her fiance. Interestingly i did fit in some time for vintage shopping for the shop.I was very suprised to find alot of opp shops are selling there vintage goods at shop prices. Considering everything gets given to them and they don't have to hunt for anything, finding treasures is becoming difficult. I'm not just saying this because i have a shop, but Vintage shopping on the South Coast has alot to offer, and at very reasonable prices. I don't think the general public realise the lenghths we go to to recycle, salvage, and preserve goods of a by-gone era.I have come home with more respect for what i have collected over the years and a respect of realising its becoming scarce.Maybe this Christmas you to will think more conciously about what gift you give and find joy in giving something Vintage.Holidays over, I'm now back at the bower, Thurs, Fri, Sat. see you there. 10.01.2022 Visitors to my shop on Saturday, the day of the Seaside Fair, expressed their disappointment of not seeing sculptures on the headland on the same day, which in years gone passed there had been. They also expressed their delight in discovering my shop and seeing "Beatles" wonderful wave sculptures in our beautiful setting. They enjoyed the whole experience and said they'd be the little bird to tell others of my existence.; a hidden treasure. .

10.01.2022 I,m going on a spiritual retreat and will be away as of tomorrow. The shop is open today and will re-open Thursday 30th October. Don't miss me too much. Chris Spring.

07.01.2022 The Bermagui farmers market was very impressive, and one we all need to support. I,m making sure I get there early for the next one as alot had sold out by the time I got there. Well done Bermagui.

07.01.2022 Autumn is a time for reflection and today I'm reflecting on recently having gone to the ballet. Ever since my daughter Nioka was a young girl, I promised we would one day see "Swan Lake". We were fortunate enough to experience this last month.; performed by the Australian Ballet Company. It was a first for both of us, and a memorable one. A classic to behold with Tchaikovsky's orchestration. I love the story of Swan Lake, and to be taken on this journey was magical. The human s...pirit needs to be taken to another place where our creative juices can be expressed, this can then filter through into our everyday life.I have a passion for swans and an extensive collection of vintage swans which I've collected over many years. I've been able to part with some of these which are now gracing my shop. I get a thrill when a fellow collector chooses one to take home.A swan is a symbol of peace and great beauty, while underneath the surface all the hard work is going on. I find them to be so inspiring and hence my love for them.We are lucky to have black swans gracing Wallaga Lake and what they symbolize to the local indigenous people. So dream like in the clear autumn light See more

07.01.2022 With Mothers Day just around the corner, it's always nice to give flowers. These wire "Buddies" hand crafted by sculptor Peter "Beatle" Collins are just the answer. Flowers that don't wilt or die. These are "one off" gifts that can only be purchased at "A Little Bird Told Me" Retro and Vintage. It's nice to give a gift that just keeps giving. The wire stem is self supporting and can either go in an existing pot plant, vase,(no water needed) or wrapped up on the outside of a gift. Happy Mothers Day.

06.01.2022 Bespoke has been the Buzz word for quite sometime, meaning made to order. This word was made popular by Kevin McCloud from Grand Designs. The latest Buzz word in the design world is Vignette, meaning any small pleasing picture. I have been creating Vintage Vignettes forever, not knowing there was a word for it. I love how it rhymes with Vintage. This is a photo of a Vintage Vignette i created at home and it has some bespoke items. My shop is filled with items to create your own unique vignettes that tell a story. It's an art form using objects and its magical when it all comes together. Lets be creative this spring and make your heart sing.

03.01.2022 I love displaying all the nice pieces I,ve collected over the years. I not only enjoy them visually every day, as to me they are art pieces, but because they are out for me to see I make a point of using them.

02.01.2022 The festive season is over, and we've kicked back into a more relaxed mode. This months special is a 60's Retro Bar,just the thing to put you in a relaxed mood.Black padded vinyl with orange buttons and pink laminate. It has three shelves to store all your glasses and grog. The black vinyl bar stools come with it; areal bargain for $295. I've just returned from a trip to Sydney and as usual I found some treasures for the shop. It's always inspiring to see whats happening in the city, and I'm always excited when I return so I can display my latest wares. Autumn is a Fabulous time in Bermagui, so hope to see you out and about.
