23.01.2022 Well part of our reopening we required sanitiser stations for each carriage. Rather than pay $500 for each, one of our volunteers decided to make our own. Using old worn out wheels, from a section car trailer, off-cuts from boiler tubes and some can-do attitude. Still a bit of work required and a total of 5 to make but atleast it saves us some money while we’re still closed.

22.01.2022 Well with the covid plan meaning that there might be a slight delay between passenger train runs, we decided to restore a few more of our smaller collection items that can go on display at the platform. This item was dropped off on Saturday the 29th, it’s a ground frame from a QR to two foot catch point, which would have been from one of the few diamond crossings that use to exist on the north coast line. Item when it arrived was seized, over the last day the lever was freed up, disassembled, sandblasted and finally reassembled to working order. A bit more history will be put with the lever on display on the platform

20.01.2022 April, 1917 the Fifth Army launched an assault against the Hindenburg line, south of Arras. The 4th Australian Division was included in the attack against Bullecourt and succeeded in breaching the enemy's defence. April 19, 1917, 1st ANZAC Light Railway Company transporting the 4th Australian Division, showing the effectiveness of moving large quantities of men and equipment forward. (Imperial War Museum E (AUS) 468). During this, two Hunslet steam locomotives sustained hea...vy damage, from artillery fire and light arms. Markings are consistent with the Hunslet in the museum collection. It was one of three Hunslet steam locomotives in the area. We will remember them.

18.01.2022 We would like to thank the Woodford men’s shed for constructing new doors for our PL coach. The PL coach is currently under restoration, with installation of disability access and room for prams. The doors were quite a tricky item to make as they are curved.

15.01.2022 Took netherdale for her first run down to Woodford Gardens since shutdown, as a test train.

12.01.2022 Well another major engineering project finished. This time a civilised one.. With the closure in March, only a limited number of volunteers were allowed onsite to do essential maintenance only. This significantly reduced the volunteer workforce down to just a couple of volunteers. A decision in May by our Civil and Mechanical Engineer was to start the construction of two 60lbs points sets required to link up with the crossing, ultimately the extension. Two sets of points an...d a couple of hundred meters of track would be required. Retail value of this project; 282k Actual money spent; $1,072 70t of ballast. Install began August 8th. Total hours 1,286 Steel and concrete construction. Not bad for a bunch of volunteers, with limited time and resources. Thanks again to Ralph Cumner for donating his time to lend a hand with the backhoe and thanks to our sponsor Bracalbra quarry. Also a massive thanks to the few volunteers whom were able to lend a hand and achieve this massive undertaking.

11.01.2022 Well it’s been a rather trying year for our volunteer railway, unfortunately we are still not open again yet. Hopefully soon This year our 62 year old track gang compressor unfortunately suffered terminal mechanical problems. Thankfully Queensland Rail donated a compressor to keep us going. It’s been a great addition to our maintenance team. ... Thanks a lot Queensland Rail It’s also technically the first QR diesel to ever make it to Woodford

10.01.2022 Well in happier news, our little locomotive is nearing the end of an extensive engine rebuild. Goondi, is currently having its 5 cylinder LW gardener engine rebuilt. Once complete the engine will be reinstalled and good for quite a long time. Terrific work being undertaken by two of our long time dedicated members

08.01.2022 Covid update and general. We are currently working through the requirements to reopen, with a working bee held today to get the majority of the covid prep work in place. Next weekend a practice run through/ training day will be held with the volunteers. Should things go well, then we will be able to confirm a reopening. Now general; well as we’ve had a bit of a bad year and we know many others have too, we thought we put some lights up and hopefully cheer some people up. ... Netherdale will be out of display right up until Christmas. With the exception being the two nights on December where the lights will be down at Woodford Gardens for the Woodford community Christmas event on the 11th and 18th of December

07.01.2022 The year that keeps on giving... We got hit pretty hard in the storm earlier this week. Thankfully no building damage but some minor rollingstock damage.

03.01.2022 Unfortunately due to current restrictions we are unable to open September 20th as planned. We are currently reviewing our plans and our COVID safety procedures to deal with these restrictions. The health and safety of our passengers and our volunteers is a priority.... 02.01.2022 Well we thought we would add a little Woodford touch to the sanitiser stations we were making. We’ve added little dog spike people to the bases as a talking point. We’ve got fishing, reading, one holding a tape measure as a reminder to remain socially distant, one holding a mug as a reminder to check out Woodford Gardens and the last one riding a little locomotive. Yet to be cleaned up and further painted
