14.01.2022 THIS IS SO UNAUSTRALIAN, but technically legal. Ever since the joint QPS and TMR "Operation Lift" activity, we have been inundated with details of extensive dra...gnet and defect stations still occurring on regular basis, so whilst the QPS/TMR activity may have been only 3 days "on paper", it has certainly continued much longer than what the Queensland Government purports. But let’s breakdown the issues here, QPS enforce laws / legislations / standards, while TMR write the policies and standards which go into parliament to be voted on. So, in a nutshell, QPS use the TMR standards which the government agreed to. So, while there is a large public backlash at QPS at the moment, our fight with the modification standards and legislation is with TMR and the Queensland Government. We don't have an Upper House in Queensland Parliament to provide common sense and second round of review / approval; so our system is ultimately broken. Everyone needs to understand Operation Lift initially kicked off as there are a lot of significantly lifted vehicles in the community that are WELL outside the approved standards and have not undergone engineering / blueplates. We're not saying they're unsafe, but they're more than what you're currently allowed, so it has drawn the heat on the whole 4WD community. Police Service Personnel are hard working men and women in our community, they put up with a lot of public angst, but we need to remember they don't write the rules. They are human and have emotions, they go home to their families at night, so greet them courteously and even shake their hands; attitude goes a long way, particularly if they realise you've made an honest mistake. Remember, guidance on the TMR website HAS BEEN changed regarding lifts, while the QCOP didn't change, the guidance to motorists did, and the minister admitted in parliament this was adjusted for clarity - but they still didn't tell the public, so how are you to know? Its unfortunate QPS are currently defecting in our offroad environments, in Teerwah, Double Island, etc... as this is where every day Australians love to head for fun family time off, and this is what 4WDs are designed for. Many people aren't heading out this weekend, and the tourism dollars will now be lacking in this communities. We will say that the Queensland Government ministers, TMR, and some QPS staff have no concept that road safety extends to offroad and regional environment where many of our community enjoy our holidays. We openly welcome ministers, TMR and QPS staff to come to some of our offroad events in order to get a better appreciation for 4WD safety on AND off roads. IN ORDER TO CHANGE, we must start making more noise and increase the pressure on TMR, Transport Minister, Premier, and other local politicians, and tell them this is a farce, and all vehicles which were defected were there was uncertainty on the legal modifications fitted, should have the defect / infringement notices cancelled. Remember: If you're 4WD was outside the legal limits, then unfortunately you were fair game. However, we are working to get these limits changed, and several politicians have us on fast dial; just not the one who has the capacity to change it now. Also the new LS9/10 codes are not as cracked up as the minister will have you believe. THE KEY POINTS: Too many 4WDs outside the limits (not technically unsafe) Illegal Modifications are classed as a Type 2 Hoon Offence 4WD Queensland has been campaigning since 2012 TMR advised no capacity for 4WD Queensland TMR working on revised lift codes TMR advised industry they would not enforce until ESC testing completed TMR new LS9/10 codes would allow additional lift TMR admit they have no ESC test data / facilities TMR cannot provide any crash / test data to say modified vehicles are unsafe QPS / TMR conducted Operation Lift regardless QPS defecting using old LS9/10 codes TMR will release revised LS9/10 codes with a month Government will expect us to thank them for giving us new codes Government stating, they bring us into national alignment VIC / NSW have engineering schemes will allow mods outside NCOP (150mm) Any vehicle modified from another state, must be re-engineered when you move to Queensland No one moving to Queensland will transfer engineering / registration from other state Queensland Government are out of touch with community expectation and purposely targeting modified 4WDs Mark Bailey has not contacted 4WD Queensland to get an understanding of offroad vehicle requirements We all know this is nothing but a stitch up for fast cash before they change the vehicle lift codes. #TimeToAlign #StopTheNannyState #ThisIsQueensland #VisitQueensland #PayBacktheLiftFines Visit Queensland, Australia Visit Bribie Island, Queensland, Australia 4WD NSW & ACT 4WD South Australia WA 4WD Association Australian Automotive Aftermarket Association Australian NCOP - Vehicle Modifications 4WD Tasmania Shooters Fishers and Farmers Party Shooters Fishers and Farmers Party QLD LNP - Liberal National Party Queensland Labor Steve Minnikin MP 4WD Queensland Mark Bailey MP - Labor for Miller Andrew Laming MP Tim Nicholls MP Luke Howarth Australian Confederation of Motor Clubs Liberal Democrats QLD Liberal Democrats Nick Dametto MP Katter's Australian Party Deb Frecklington MP Annastacia Palaszczuk MP Aussie 4WD Off The Trax John "Roothy" Rooth Scott Morrison (ScoMo) 7 News Brisbane Ten Eyewitness News Queensland Channel 9
