23.01.2022 TABATA TRAINING "Tabata" comes from Dr. Izumi Tabata, A japanese researcher who developed this extreme form of High Intensity Interval Training. It consists of 8 rounds of very high intensity exercises in a specific 20-second-on, 10-seconds-off intervals.... It will take just 4 minute to complete a TABATA circuit but believe me, those four minutes will push your body to the limit. You can choose all sorts of exercises when doing Tabata. Sprints, Skipping the rope, Squats, Rowing and with some inventive you can create a very fun and intense workout. DISCLAIMER: This protocol was created for Olympic athletes, who were able to perform the full circuit due to their fitness levels. If you are a beginner and you want to give it a go, you can still benefits at your own intensity! Try walking fast for 20" and slow for 10", if that challenges you it's already a good start! We all start somewhere! 19.01.2022 Survivorship Bias and Personal Training Comparing ourselves to the handful of people who may have just gotten lucky, have great genes, or do something not disclosed can harm our mental health by providing unrealistic expectations. Behind every success story, you’ll find: ... someone who got injured someone who couldn’t make the meal plan work because it didn’t fit with their hectic lifestyle someone who lost weight only to gain it back (i.e., Biggest Loser contestants) someone who got sick or needed surgery Once you realize the images you see on social media are the exception and not the rule, you can make more informed decisions on what program or lifestyle changes will work for you. Look past the planes that made it back to base and start examining the ones that didn’t. What was it that let you down? Was the diet too strict? Did it leave you weak and exhausted? Were the workouts overly demanding, leading to fatigue and injury? Is it possible a more moderate diet and exercise program could achieve the same results? Fitness culture is famous (or infamous) for its "hustle harder" culture. Do more. Go harder. But if you’re working a full-time job, managing a household, taking care of aging parents, etc., spending two hours a day exercising is unrealistic. You need a program that focuses on the time you have available and your current level of fitness. If you’re working with someone who doesn’t look at you as an individual with needs and challenges, run. That person will push their idea of the perfect plan on you. They’ll take what worked for one person and apply it to everyone. Fad diets and celebrity cleanses feed on survivorship bias. Be courageous and know your limitations. Find someone who will work with them to make sure you succeed. That's what a Personal Trainer is about! @justintimepersonaltraining @justintimept @justintimeworkplacehealth

17.01.2022 I wanted to share an insight about online training... The lockdown in Melbourne is pretty much over and we are looking to have the gyms open once again, which is great and it will allow me to come back to sessions face to face with many of my clients. I feel extremely lucky and blessed about all my clients. Around 80% of them kept their sessions online over the two weeks of lockdown. They could have just said: "We will start again in a week or two", but they did...n't. This is why I love what I do, people leave my sessions tired but with a smile. (And we definitely need more of this) I work to make each and every session PERSONAL, because that's the main purpose of Personal Training. I love to see my clients showing up and leaving happier than when they arrived and thanks to ZOOM training I could keep those smiles on when probably was most needed. I want to truly inspire people, I want to be the reason why people will say "Because of you I didn't give up!" Thanks to all my clients for being unreal and I can't wait to work on the next goal on your list #fitness #personaltrainer #inspiration #motivation #gym #training #onlinetraining #zoom #passion #sport #health #lifestyle #Australia #Melbourne #workout Just In Time Personal Training Pty Ltd. 16.01.2022 I think that Triceps Pushdowns are many people’s favourite triceps accessory exercise and for a good reason! It is relatively simple to perform, it works all three heads of your triceps and you would have endless variations of exercises for this muscle group. The good news is that you can even do this exercise with a resistance band if you are training at home. It delivers a serious pump, helping you build bulging muscles along the back of your arms, just if ...you performs this exercise properly. If you don't though you will just overload your shoulder and upper trapezius, causing you just a lot of trouble and stress on your neck area. The forward lean might make you think you’re cheating. It looks like you’re putting your back into the move. But what you’re really doing is allowing the three heads in your triceps to move through their full ranges of motion. I hope this video can help you with a safe execution of this accessory exercise. 13.01.2022 Pull ups are great for upper-body strength and building muscle, but they’re hard. Very hard! To the point that many will be exhausted after a couple and that can really let your motivation down! Fortunately, this is when the lat pull-down comes to help. It involves a similar movement to the pull-up, challenging your mid- and upper-back muscles, arms and grip, but you have more control over how much you lift and can slow the tempo right down to help increase muscle size rap...idly. Let's see few things that I usually recommend to my clients when using this piece of equipment! As the name suggests, this machine targets the latissimus dorsi the large, flat muscles across your mid back. I hope this can help many out there! 11.01.2022 I have the honour to train the two best voice coaches in Australia (@leithmcp and @chrisnolanvoice ) and no surprise they are great friends! Everyday they work hard strengthening theirs and other people's voices for singing, acting and performing but they commit to our sessions, to improve their physical skills and make sure everything works in sync! Receiving their proprioceptive feedback on how exercise affect our voices and our breathing is simply amazing and ...makes me learn something new every session! 10.01.2022 Sciatica and Piriformis muscle - A pain in the butt... To begin, the sciatic nerve is the largest nerve in the human body and provides motor control for the majority of the thigh, leg and foot. Sciatica is the name for pain patterns caused by irritation of the sciatic nerve, and one of them could be the compression by the PIRIFORMIS MUSCLE. This is a flat, pyramid-shaped muscle that is close enough to the sciatic nerve. When it contracts or if gets bulky from repetitiv...e overuse can put pressure on the nerve. Prolonged sitting and a poor posture can exacerbate the symptoms of aching, burning or sharp pain in the area controlled by the sciatic nerve. Stretching to lengthen the muscle is believed to be the best way to decrease the compression put on the sciatic nerve when piriformis contracts. Here I propose 3 stretches to facilitate this: 1. Supine Piriformis stretch 2. Pigeon pose 3. Seated Pigeon pose You should also work on your posture to avoid the aggravation of the symptoms. 06.01.2022 BEFORE and AFTER This is Ian(@fatfuckgetsfit) When he got in touch with me at @justintimepersonaltraining he had a clear idea of what he wanted. ... Say stop to junk food and start a fitness program that would suits his needs. His progress has been not only physical but he has gained so much more confidence and functional strength. This is great story considering that here, in Melbourne, we have been in lockdown 6 months over the last year. We have had ups and downs(which is normal) but as we discussed on our first session we were preparing for a marathon and not for a short sprint. I'm really looking forward to seeing what Ian can achieve in the next months, stay tuned!! See more
