24.01.2022 Latest info from the department of transport Driving Instructor Bulletin 01/2019 Learner Log Book App Trial... Good morning, In response to a 2018 survey of Western Australian drivers the Department of Transport (DoT) will soon introduce Learn&Log - a learner log book mobile application (app). The app, which is currently being trialled with selected learner drivers to ensure its readiness for public launch, will make it faster and easier to complete a log book, and improve the quality of information provided. Learn&Log makes it easy to: record driving trips and track progress towards log book completion; capture the signature of the supervising driver for each trip; and submit hours completed directly to DoT. Designed with safety in mind, Learn&Log allows users to set and forget - there is no reason for the learner driver or their supervisor to interact with their mobile phone while driving. The supervising driver is encouraged to start and end the trip while the learner is safely parked out of the line of traffic. A User Guide is attached for your reference. Please note that when you are created as a supervising driver in the learners app, you will need to uncheck the Is this a WA licence? box if you enter your driving instructor number. Learn&Log will be publically available from mid-March 2019, following the successful completion of the trial. DoT will continue to issue a printed Learner Guide and Log Book, and learner drivers can opt to use the free app to record all or part of their supervised driving hours.
