25.01.2022 Reasons Why You Should Add Foam Rolling Into Your Routine! If you aren’t foam rolling, or getting a sports massage at least twice weekly and you are working out even moderately, you most likely are experiencing some form of muscle tightness. This can affect your ability to exercise regularly, your motivation to work out and you could unknowingly be putting yourself at a high risk of injury. 25.01.2022 What is Achilles Tendinopathy? What does it mean for me? Achilles Tendinopathy is actually super common among our patients. Pains in the Achilles tendon are usually due to a small micro-tears in the tendon, generally developed over time and from over use. If left untreated, it can become very inflamed and swollen and it can also become chronic (long-term), meaning that it requires more intensive treatment, and that also increases the risk of sustaining an Achilles tendon rupture (tear). 24.01.2022 What is osteoporosis? Simply put, Osteoporosis is a disease in which the bones become fragile and brittle. They fracture more easily than normal bone. Even a minor bump or fall can cause a serious fracture. Half of all women and one-third of men over 60 in Australia will have a fracture due to osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is often called a silent disease, as there are usually no signs or symptoms until someone has a fracture. Any bone can be affected but the most common are bones in the hip, spine, wrist, ribs, pelvis and upper arm. Find out more: https://a2zhealthgroup.com.au/osteoporosis/

23.01.2022 Happy Fathers Day!

23.01.2022 There is no disputing the enormous benefits of massage, but as with any form of bodywork, certain precautions are necessary. For example, someone with open sores or skin infections will not get a massage, and in other cases we may advise you to seek your physicians advice first. Conditions such as pregnancy, osteoporosis, dislocations, unhealed fractures, cancer and advanced heart disease may be contraindicated for massage therapy. However, if done correctly, it can be the doorway to improved health and wellness for the rest of your life. https://a2zhealthgroup.com.au/massage/

22.01.2022 Sciatica nerve pain is caused by pressure on the sciatic nerve a large nerve that originates from the lower lumbar spine and travels through the buttock into the leg as far as the back of the knee. Our physiotherapists first action is to find out the cause and tailor a therapy program from there. Call (03) 9798 4081 to book your appointment today.

21.01.2022 There is a range of things that can cause Achilles Tendinopathy, they can include wearing high heels as they shorten and tighten the calf muscle and put strain on your Achilles tendon, a sudden increase in training and or walking with a poor stretching routine can also provoke it, as well as poor footwear choices that either rub up against the tendon or simply don’t offer the support necessary. 21.01.2022 Sean's (our Occupational Therapist) puppy dog (child) has been really unwell over the last 3 weeks. They rushed him to hospital because they noticed he was having difficulty breathing. He ended up experiencing cardiac arrest and requiring resuscitation. He has been diagnosed with a spontaneous pneumothorax and had surgery to remove the damaged part of his lung. Unfortunately, he has since been readmitted to hospital with a bad infection in the chest cavity. He is currently in... hospital and has been for the better part of 3 weeks. Apparently his prognosis is good, however, they have had to create a gofundme to help with covering some of the costs associated with his hospitalisation. For context they are paying $1,000 per day for him to remain in hospital and his vet bills (not including any non-admission appointments) will exceed $30,000 as of the end of the weekend. If anyone wants to read more, or would like to donate it would be greatly appreciated. If you can't please keep your fingers crossed for Wally as he literally means the world to Rosie (Sean's fiance) and him. https://gofund.me/1b4c3dc9 See more

16.01.2022 The initial objective of all shoulder injuries is to relieve pain and inflammation. Whilst many doctors will recommend non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) to relieve pain and swelling, the benefit obtained by applying ice-packs can be equally, if not more beneficial. As your shoulder begins to heal, it is vitally important to restore range of movement, and later to improve muscle strength so as to stabilize the shoulder and help prevent further injury and aggravation. 13.01.2022 Headaches can be due to a range of factors like tension, bad pose, accidental injuries, medications, environmental factors such as powerful smells & pollution and eating issues. Probably the most neglected cause for migraine and stress headache is because of nerve irritation in the upper neck as a result of improperly functioning spinal joints Physiotherapists refer to this as Vertebral dysfunction. Mainly because the nerves of the upper neck supply areas of the scalp and face, irritation to these nerves can naturally bring about headache. Read more: https://a2zhealthgroup.com.au/headache/
