As your home foundations are constantly moving due to the moisture changes in the ground around your home, your waterproofing membrane has to stretch to compensate. Modern waterproofing membranes have come a long way in the past 20 years with products that are able to stretch further than ever before but is only as good as the preparation and application of ...the installer. Timber framing that remains wet for a period of time will start to rot and attract termites. Recently, I was invited to take a long at a ceiling stain which was below the upstairs bathroom and I was able to carry out a number of tests to determine that the shower floor waterproofing membrane had failed only after 5 years as a newly built home. Keep your eye out for any ceiling water stains downstairs (If you have a double storey home) or moisture build up around architraves, skirting and flooring materials (carpet, timber flooring) for any signs of dampness. 17.01.2022 AAA Hills Handyman Services Renovations A customer who recently had a baby was running out of space in her 3-bedroom house. She asked me if we could take some space out of their living room and convert it into another bedroom. After measuring up we came up with a solution where we could add another sizable bedroom and still retain enough space for the TV / family room. 17.01.2022 Gyprock / Plastering Repairs - AAA Hills Handyman Services A customer in Beaumont Hills had suffered a roof leak recently which resulted in a rather damaged bathroom ceiling. The ceiling had bowed quite badly and was moldy. The only option here was to cut out a section of the damaged ceiling and replace the gyprock. Additional timber support was required to support the new section of gyprock followed by a number of coats of plaster to make the repair seamless. After undercoat and applying 2 coats of ceiling white the ceiling looks brand new and there is no evidence of any repairs. The old shelves had sagged quite badly and was not repairable. We were able to pull the old unit out and custom make a new frame and shelves and finished off with a decorative trim.
