24.01.2022 What a strange few months. There's no real end in sight but there is light at the end of the tunnel and we're up and running on July 4th with the D'Aguilar '2 Ups' at Dayboro. If you're keen to volunteer, drop us a line at [email protected] - we have the following events coming up and we'd love to have some of you along at a checkpoint or marshaling:... July 4th The D’Aguilar ‘2 Ups’ (Dayboro) July 24th The BVRT100s (Yarraman to Brassall) August 8th WHC/WH@N (Wild Horse Mountain) August 14th The Clint Eastwood (Oxley Creek Common) and of course September 12th The Glasshouse 100 (Beerburrum and Woodford) Checkpoint duties in particular will be a little different from usual as we have to ensure that participants are practising appropriate behaviour in accordance with our COVID-19 mitigation plan (more on that when the time comes) and crew will be much less ‘hands on’ than usual. For CP duties at the ‘2 Ups’, we’re looking for small crews (just 3-4) with at least one 4x4 (or the capacity to drive one of ours) along rough, forest road. Regardless of the mayhem we find ourselves in at the moment, we’re aiming to stage something of a revival at the GH100. We’ve already got a new permit in place to return to the older course and there’s considerable interest being generated by many who are looking to return to ‘The House’. If you’re keen, let us know. For those that have volunteered in the past, you’ll know how rewarding it is to be on the other side of the fence so to speak and it’s always interesting to see how people go from a spectator’s perspective.

23.01.2022 Can anyone help my husband with a lift tomorrow morning for the 100km from southside Bris? No return trip required.

22.01.2022 I know you’ve all been waiting with bated breath for this: the Dune or the Wanderer which is the better for endurance events requiring rest between short burs...ts of activity or, for that matter, everyday use whereby can use it in your own lounge (as BJ will attest to)?! Well: Build The Dune is a much sturdier and better constructed item. The joints that make up the reclining mechanism, the construction of the main frame and the bindings of seat fabric are a bit shaky by comparison on the Wanderer. This is best illustrated with those bindings the lugs on the Dune are steel and welded (Fig. A) whereas the Wanderer has plastic inserts (Fig. B) which will not likely hold up to long term, frequent use. While the load capacity (150 kgs for the Dune and 110 kgs for the Wanderer) is not likely to be an issue for anyone taking on a LOS, it’s a clear indicator of the comparative build quality. Dune = 1, Wanderer = 0. Comfort The Wanderer has thinner cushion than the Dune and it’s noticeable when you’ve sat/lain in both. The Dune also has a layer of fabric over the eyelets which adds to the comfort. If you’ve only tried the Wanderer however, it’s not something that you’d think too much over. The main difference as far as comfort is concerned, Karl , is the headrest/pillow. The Dune’s is much firmer and a little wider (Fig. D) and provides a lot more support under the neck or head (whatever is your preference) whereas the Wanderer’s (Fig. E) is much softer and flattens after a short time. Dune = 1, Wanderer = 0. Convenience Okay, this is neither here nor there, but as a direct result of the way the pillow is attached (an elastic strap on the Wanderer and fastened rails on the Dune Figs. E & F), the Dune has a superfluous pocket hanging from the back whereby you can have all your bits and pieces handy, provided you are double jointed and can reach them. Otherwise you need to get out of the chair to get them, thereby making it redundant to have it attached to the chair, but still . Dune = 1, Wanderer = 0. Trayage This seems to be a deal breaker for many. There’s no argument here, the Dune is better equipped. There’s more space of course but it’s also sturdy where as the tray on the Wanderer is quite flimsy and seems to have something missing, but it doesn’t, it’s just what you get. Fig. G is the Dune, Fig. H is the Wanderer. Dune = 1, Wanderer = 0 Tiltage This is where the Wanderer has one up on the Dune. It tilts a little further back to the extent that each end is near level with each other. Not quite horizontal but close enough (Figs. I & J). From an LOS point of view, this isn’t a good thing unless you’re in the process of fainting and need to increase blood flow to your brain as having your legs, calves in particular, at a an increased elevation decreases blood flow to the lower leg which could effect how well you’re able to restart the next lap. Dune = 0, Wanderer = 1. Size Both chairs are long enough for most people, even if you’re taller, Cambo. The Wanderer is an inch longer than the Dune which for me (180 cm) meant that at full stretch, my feet hang over the edge of the latter while my heels were directly on the frame of the Dune. If you’re over 180 cm, both would be the same. However, in the Wanderer, the extra length is undone by the angle the chair is set at as my head touched the frame when laying flat. If you’re under 170 cm it’s likely that none of this will matter. Guy Schweitzer will be fine! Both are significantly longer than others on the market. Dune = 1, Wanderer = 1 So, the result is the Dune comes out on top with a score of 5-2. Mrs AAA Racing refutes the result as she refuses to be wrong and admit that I've purchased an inferior product for research purposes for the good of the greater community! #AAAConsumerAdvice

01.01.2022 We're just around the corner from the start of the 'busier' season with The Glasshouse Trails Series, 2 Ups and BVRT100s soon to be upon us. We need to finalise two CP crews for both the Wild Horse events along with the schedule for BVRT. For BVRT100 in particular we'll be appointing checkpoint chiefs who will coordinate additional volunteers who are assigned. If you feel this is you, put your hand up here or mention it in the 'other' field when you register.... Thanks for all that have already committed and in advance for everyone else. It's no cliché to say that we can't do it without you all, because we simply can't! https://www.registernow.com.au/secure/Register.aspx?E=33447
