25.01.2022 The announcement to have 1000 mile, 1000 km and 6 day records no longer recognised by the IAU seems to be causing something of a furore (link below), but there's a valid argument for it and there is precedent along the lines of an event on one course being incomparable to another of similar distance/time. https://iau-ultramarathon.org/IAU%20WORLD%20RECORDS%20GUIDE The recent 'Adelaide 6 Day' for example, was run on a 1425.5 km course at Thorndon Park on a largely concrete pa...th (I believe?) while the '6 Days in the Dome' event in Milwaukee is run on a rubberised track around an ice rink indoors (dead flat and perfect weather I guess). How can a performance on the latter be equitable with a peformance on the former? Undoubtedly, a trail miler is less likely to be faster than a miler on the road or an athletics track, all other elements being equal and maybe they should be recognised separately but course certification then becomes an issue and trail events, almost without exception, are rarely an exact distance and are never 100% equitable with another event of the same distance. Our own ratifying body here in Australia (AURA) no longer regonises ultra records on trail specifically. While the opposite of this may be a fair argument (to recognise trail performances separately) it's an obvious illustration of the difficulty to establish consistency between events and, of course, the impact the differences between those effents have on performance. The one thing that is almost inarguable, is that the longer an event goes on, the greater impact the varying conditions and facilities have on the outcome and performances of individuals. So, as with other disciplines, while these three specific events may no longer be recognised as world records, they likely will still have 'world bests' associated with them. And people may flock to specific venues to make the most of their preferable conditions. I'm sure everyone has a perspective and as such an opinion to match. But there's usually reasoning behind decisions such as these and I doubt any are made with a view to damaging any element under an organisation's governance. 25.01.2022 And before you know it, January is just around the corner! https://www.registernow.com.au/secure/Register.aspx?E=42445 #hammernutritionaus ... #KennardsHire #TerraTribe See more

25.01.2022 The original gets better and better!

25.01.2022 Alternatively, you can view the guys lap count live as they cross the mat. http://com.racetec.net/?Id=270

24.01.2022 Apparently, Sky Sports have taken issue with the video we published earlier and we've had to loge a dispute. Anyway, here's the same video with our own music. Enjoy part of the BGBMs course vicariously through modern technologicals!

24.01.2022 Thinking of a target for the 21 edition of the Clint Eastwood LOSER? Getting past 48 hors is the next logical step but 54 would be something else.

24.01.2022 Meanwhile, if you're interested and haven't seen it, this is the live tracker for Killian Jornet's 24 hour attempt: https://racetracker.no/events/2020/moon-valley-24h/ The video feed can be found here: https://www.salomon.com/en-us/kj-phantasm24

21.01.2022 Morning everyone. As you'll be aware, we're in lockdown for 72 hours as of midnight. Unfortunately, this means we will be postponing Hares & Hounds. We have confirmed that we can stage the event on January 17th (next weekend) but more likely will look to stage on January 31st. Apologies for the inconvenience but bear with us while we commence the juggling :(

21.01.2022 Race briefing at Blue Goat Last One Standing. Beautiful evening #bluemountainfitness #bluegoatmarathon

17.01.2022 We're always working on something and this is one you'll want to save the date for. 50 miles in sub-tropical rain forest with mesmerising scenery and beauty spots. In an exclusive location without the hoopla it'll be a tight squeeze with spots limited to between 50 and 75 for its inaugural running. You will need to have completed at least marathon distance on trail within cut-off or as determined in our qualifying criteria (TBD).... We'll hopefully have registration information up soon. "We may often travel the same path but our journeys remain unique." #hammernutritionaus #whereelsebutQLD

17.01.2022 Run as a lone gun or in your on own bunch, the finish is your own making but whenever you stop, you'll be in the frame for a COROS watch! https://www.registernow.com.au/secure/Register.aspx?E=43180 Hammer Nutrition Australia ... #hammernutritionaus #corosau See more

15.01.2022 EDIT: Hares & Hounds 2021 will now be staged on February 14th, St Valentine's Day - https://business.facebook.com/events/540822730149272/ -------------------- Morning everyone. As you'll be aware, we're in lockdown for 72 hours as of midnight. Unfortunately, this means we will be postponing Hares & Hounds. We have confirmed that we can stage the event on January 17th (next weekend) but more likely will look to stage on January 31st.... 13.01.2022 Further to our earlier post with regard to postponement, we've revised the new date as we don't want to tread on the toes of two other local events on the 31st. Accounting for a possible 30 day lockdown, we have confirmed that we'll stage the event on February 14th ... Hares & Hounds '21 - The St Valentine's Day Massacre!

11.01.2022 As the weekend of the second BGBMs draws to an end, we're reminded of the spectacular surroundings that in which we're fortunate enough to host the event by an equally spectacular sunset. Thanks everyone for your support and participation, we're already planning next year's edition. Special thanks to all that volunteered on the weekend and congratulations to all that stepped up to the line to take on the challenge, regardless of your outcome ... #PappadinosKatoomba #T8run

10.01.2022 Hares from hell... who knew it was a thing?! https://www.registernow.com.au/secure/Register.aspx?E=39671

07.01.2022 Congratulations Steve Lomax - taking out the LOS under any circumstances takes some doing, but under the conditions we had during the event it was a bit special. Honourable mention, once again, to Rob Phillpott. Once more providing the assist here after doing the same in 2019 for Phil Durnee. Steve is pictured here having a 'lie down' :) https://aaaracing-my.sharepoint.com//EUDKCSSqI9lFgI0hQDoig

05.01.2022 Apparently, there are 'Hares' ... and then there's 'Hair Raising'! Not sure that the Hounds and Lone Wolves will have it all their own way on Sunday :) https://www.registernow.com.au/secure/Register.aspx?E=39671... #AblazePrinting

05.01.2022 Just a taste of the Blue Goat's course. The LOS group are off and running (cheerful comment from Mick Hayles as the first lap took off after a briefing, "What's last one standing format?") Registrations close at midnight if you want in tomorrow morning, all events can start with the event prior (half can start at the marathon start, etc.)https://www.registernow.com.au/secure/Register.aspx?E=40126

05.01.2022 From Woodford to Beerburrum and return via the trachyte circuit (GPS & KML files available by this weekend), finishing with a dip in Woodford pool. Whether you're a hare, part of the pack, or a lone wolf (solo hound), this is a race for all levels - the slowest hare needs to get back before the slowest hound to avoid getting listed as 'caught' - or you can pop in and trot around Woodford for 11 or 5 km :) - are you up for it? #hammernutritionaustraila

04.01.2022 If it's good enough for Dean, it should be good enough for anyone! Hammer Nutrition Australia #HammerNutritionAus

03.01.2022 Results for the Marathon, Marathon and 'Fun Run' from yesterday's BGBMs - some suffering out there in the heat but in such a spectacular location it seemed worth it - congratulations to everyone who toed the line :) https://www.racetecresults.com/results.aspx

01.01.2022 As NSW fast approaches 80% vaccination we can realistically look forward to the third running of the Blue Goat Backyard Marathons. We've received a number of emails and messages asking where we stand with regard to attendance and vaccination. Well, it has little to do with where we stand and everything to do with the NSW Recovery Roadmap and our compliance to it. To attend the BGBM in any capacity (participant, crew, event crew), you will need to be fully vaccinated with no ...exemptions other than those that are genuinely medical and evidenced accordingly. The roadmap is very specific on these conditions and regardless of personal views, either we comply or we don't go ahead: https://www.nsw.gov.au//def/files/2021-09/FACT%20SHEET.pdf For the time being, there's no such mandate applicable to events in Queensland, though we suspect the same will apply at some point in the future.

01.01.2022 For those following our small group of LOS runners, live results are here. NOTE: The split time is recorded as the time since they last crossed the timing point (finish of the previous lap) not the actual lap time.

01.01.2022 If you're planning on joining us for the Wild Bunch Last One/Team Standing on the 16th, spare a thought for the timekeeper and watch where you're pointing that six shooter! https://www.registernow.com.au/secure/Register.aspx?E=43180 #hammernutritionaus... #KennardsHire Hammer Nutrition Australia @hammernutritionaus See more
