25.01.2022 Simply amazing.

25.01.2022 Another awesome day of Air League on the Sunshine Coast despite Covid Guidelines our cadets had a blast . Today we focused on learning about Qantas Airlines since it’s there 100 year anniversary . We also began preparations for our Annual Group Review in which cadets from all around Queensland join together for a weekend of non- stop fun and education. We have a busy month ahead with a visit from the SES schedule amongst other learning opportunities. Take care & stay safe everyone.

23.01.2022 All finished! What a job. It’s taken me just over 1000 man hours to get this unique pod from a aircraft engine nacelle into my new VC10 caravan pod. I love it and can’t wait to use it this year.

22.01.2022 Sunday afternoon, Kawana State Emergency Service had the privilege to visit and meet up with some amazing members from the Australian Air League at Kawana. It ...gave us a chance to show off our Flood Boat and Storm Damage trailer and go through the equipment we carry to respond to varies jobs. They are currently doing their Emergency Services badge and we were only too happy to have a chat to them and answer any questions they may have about the SES. We look forward to catching up with you all again very soon at our shed! (Permission was given by the parents to be in the photos for social media purposes). See more

16.01.2022 Cadet Oscar Holman. Dawn, Anzac Day 2020. Submitted by Callie Westbrook.

16.01.2022 ANZAC Day 2020 will be different to ANZAC Days of years past. The current world situation prevents gatherings at services or marches, but it cannot stop the ANZ...AC Spirit. We invite members to help us commemorate ANZAC Day 2020 by taking part in "Light Up The Dawn". At 6am on ANZAC Day, go to the end of your driveway or stand on your balcony. We also ask members to take a photo or record themselves reciting The Ode and submit now in the lead up to the day, to be compiled into a video for Anzac Day Dawn. You can also sign the pledge to light up the dawn with the RSL at rslanzacspirit.com.au

08.01.2022 Caloundra Aerodrome where to from here? In November 2016 I obtained a copy of the Council’s New Works Program for infrastructure works in Caloundra. I want...ed to see the money to be spent on Caloundra Aerodrome. Between 1 July 2017 and 30 June 2019 it was $900,000 to upgrade infrastructure, and between 1 June 2019 and 1 July 2026, $3.5m generally. In November 2019, I wrote asking for details of how the $3.5m would be spent and the $900,000 utilised. The reply I received said a government decision in 2015 meant spending was --- deferred pending review of the Master Plan which is scheduled to be undertaken with broad consultation during the 2020/21 financial year. The November 2019 letter didn’t say if any money had been spent. In fact only $450,000 will be spent over the next two financial years. I don’t know where the $900,000 went, or do we? Many businesses and attractions are based at the Aerodrome including the Queensland Air Museum. That brings up a point. They have been trying for a number of years to acquire land adjacent to their site that abuts Caloundra Road to give greater exposure to vehicles on Caloundra Road. I have heard people say, I didn’t know there was an Air Museum here in Caloundra. We are now coming out of the health issue of COVID-19 but we are only starting the economic recovery. It is time for Council and State Government to turn their eyes towards Caloundra. Our vision is obscured by our lack of imagination but it is now time for imagination to take a front seat.

02.01.2022 Our Cadets had a fantastic afternoon, with a visit from QAS, as part of their Emergency Services Education. Thanks you so much to QAS for their time.
