22.01.2022 Dr Zafar Mirza, Minister of National Health Services Regulations and Coordination Government of Pakistan, held a meeting with Dr. Yousuf Ahmad and Dr Majid Gond...al, Visiting delegates from Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. Minister was briefed regarding efforts to support Family Medicine in Pakistan and recent collaboration between College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan and Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. The Minister was keen for strategic engagement of Overseas Pakistani Family Physicians Diaspora. 21.01.2022 College of Physicians & Surgeons, Pakistan Visiting Delegates held a meeting with Council General of Pakistan, CEOs of Health organisations, Leading Pakistani Health Professionals, and key community influencers in Melbourne. Participants were briefed about the MOU between RACGP and CPSP Pakistan, which is aimed at strengthening ties in the field of Family Medicine/ General Practice. Dr. Ayesha Saqib (Oncologist) , Dr. Aarzoo Khalid (Obs & Gynaecologist) and Dr Fary Khan (Rehabilitation Physician) provided their view about future avenues of collaboration between CPSP and Australian Health entities. Prof Shoaib Shafi and Prof Muhammad Asghar Butt discussed priorities for CPSP, as well as their ongoing commitment for quality education and training of health professionals in Pakistan.

Dr Khizar Ashraf is a Public Health Epidemiologist working for NSW Health and has vast experience of leading emergency and development focused preventative health and nutrition programmes with United Nations agencies World Health Organization and World Food Programme for more than a decade in different countries and regions. He is a fellow of Australasian College of Health Services Management and holds a Masters of International Public Health from University of Sydney and MBBS from Punjab Medical College, Faisalabad Pakistan. He is a board member of various non governmental organisations working for humanitarian sector and editor of American Research Journal of Food and Nutrition.

Press Release Virtual Meeting on enhancing cooperation with Australia in the field of Nursing The High Commission for Pakistan organized a Virtual Meeting on the prospects and opportunities for enhancing cooperation with Australia in the field of nursing. The Virtual Meeting was chaired by High Commissioner Babar Amin and was hosted in collaboration with the Directorate General of Health, Islamabad, Pakistan Nursing Council, Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development and Pakistani health professionals in Australia. Speaking on the occasion High Commissioner Babar Amin stated that the Virtual Meeting was a part of the initiative to enhance collaboration between Pakistan and Australia in the areas of Public Health, Medial Science, Academic Institutions and Nursing Institutions. The High Commission was working to bring together the Health authorities, Nursing Councils, Regulatory authorities, Universities, Academia and Research Institutions of the two countries for a mutually beneficial cooperation. The Pakistani health professionals based in Australia in their presentations elaborated the Australian nursing practice, education system and regulatory framework. The participants from Pakistan included Dr. Malik Mohammad Safi, Director General National Health Services, Mr. Zahoor Ahmad, Additional Secretary Asia Pacific Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Madam Afshan Nazly, President Pakistan Nursing Council, Ms. Fouzia Mushtaq, Registrar Pakistan Nursing Council, Dr. Raisa Begum Gul, National Task Force for Nursing, Professor. Rafat Jan, Agha Khan Nursing College, Ms Surriya Shahnaz, Principal Nishtar hospital Nursing College and Mr. Kashif Noor, Director General Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment. The participants from Australia included Dr. Yousaf Haroon, Dr. Majid Naeem Gondal, Dr. Amer I. Gilani, Dr. Khizar Tauseef, Ms. Yousra Atique and Mr. Rafique Shaker of the Australian Association of Pakistani Professionals. The participants identified both the challenges and opportunities in the field of nursing and agreed on concluding MoUs on institutionalized cooperation between the Health Authorities, Nursing Councils and Nursing Academic Institutions of Pakistan and Australia. 09.01.2022 College of Physician and Surgeons Delegates, Director General International Relations Prof Shoaib Shafi and Member Executive Council & Regional Director Prof Muhammad Asghar Butt represented CPSP at the RACGP Conference (GP 19) in Adelaide, Australia. Other than signing the MOU with RACGP CPSP delegates also held meetings with several international delegates on the sidelines of the GP19 conference. These included Family Medicine Academy Presidents and respective Delegates from Malaysia, Singapore, Fiji, Hong Kong and China. CPSP represented Pakistan at the RACGP Convocation and awards ceremony.

03.01.2022 AAPP Welcomes Adeel Sadiq as AAPP Lead for South Australia. Adeel Sadiq is IT Services Management professional lives in Adelaide from past 12 years with his wife and three young kids. After completing his Masters in Computer Sciences, he served NADRA and NBP in Pakistan before he migrates to South Australia where he served different government departments at different positions and also completed his Masters in Project Management degree meanwhile. At current he is working in... a leading IT global company as ITSM manager. In his social capacity, Adeel is serving Pakistani Australian Association of South Australia - PAASA as president. He is passionate about community engagement on social, cultural and political platforms. He believes that being dual national, we can play vital role in bringing the two countries together through people to people connection and by sharing our social, cultural and democratic values. 02.01.2022 Dr Farida Khawaja coordinated a visit of Launceston Hospital and University of Tasmania Medical School for the Visiting Delegates of College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan. Dean of the Launceston Clinical School Professor Tim Strong provided a tour of the clinical school facilities as well as a presentation on the vision and objectives of the clinical school. Dr. Khawaja is an emergency physician and DEMT at Launceston General Hospital, Tasmania, with a commitment to su...pport the growth of Emergency Medicine in Pakistan and finding adaptive solutions for resource-poor contexts. Dr. Khawaja is a facilitator of initiatives, collaboration, standards, training in Emergency Medicine in Pakistan. She is also a facilitator of Emergency Life Support International, in Pakistan. During the Visit Dr Khawaja briefed the delegates about the work being done in Pakistan as well as future opportunities. Dr. Farida Khawaja and Dr Riaz, who are emergency physicians at Launceston Hospital provided a tour of emergency department highlighting the structure, patient flow, triaging etc. See more

01.01.2022 On 24th October 2019, marked a historic event when Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) and College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) formalised their collaboration by signing a Memorandum of understanding. Prof Shoaib Shafi Director General International Relations and President RACGP Harry Nespolon signed the MOU on behalf of respective entities. It is fundamental step for supporting family medicine and primary health care system in Pakistan. CPSP Acknowledged and appreciated the hard work and relentless efforts of RACGP Vic Council members Dr Yousuf H Ahmad, Dr Majid Gondal , Dr Naveed Mughal, Dr Amer Gilani as well as Dr Zafar Iqbal Zafar to bring together the two Colleges.
