Written and directed by the ChIPS participants, our Aardvarkians Vincent, Reece and Stacey are part of the band and the crew. Its a moving representation of what it is like to be a young person with a chronic illness. Come along and see this amazing performance. 19.01.2022 Big 10 wrap up!! Thanks so much to everyone who helped Aardvark celebrate our Big 10th Birthday on Sunday!!! We had so much fun and it was such a special afternoon. The Aardvarkians from past and present programs shared some brilliant original music with us, mesmerising the audience with their talents and tunes. Thank you guys all so much for putting on a great show and sharing what we do at Aardvark. It was so great to catch up with Aardvarkains from past years who came alon...g to watch also. Monique Brumby, Marianne and Tanya were on fire, what a great set, and Stonefield performed amongst the smoke and lights in true epic Stonefiled style awesome! We cant thank our ambassadors enough for giving us their time to perform at this event, it was incredibly appreciated. Stacey shared her story with us to help understand what Aardvark means , very brave, beautifully written and presented, and the cake. Stacey made the cake too!! (Check out and like her business - Unicorn Crumbs Patisserie) Thanks Stacey. The wonderful Katrina McFerran shared her wisdom and knowledge on the theory of why music works with young people and pointed out the amazing music therapists that contribute to our programs. Thanks again Kat!! Danny-Jay Mrocki kept us all laughing and on time Thanks so much Dan! Raffle tickets and cds were sold by a wonderful team of volunteers (thankyou!!), prizes were won and money was raised to help Aardvark keep going. Thank you to everyone in the audience who helped us achieve this. In a funny twist Mick Bell a past volunteer who gathered a lot of the signatures on the guitar, won the signed guitar and pledged to keep it going then auction it off in 12 months to raise even more funds for Aardvark! So you all get another chance! We heard shout out videos from Tristan Goodal, Missy Higgins, Gotye, Paul Dempsey, Ecca Vandal and Ben Abraham, who even serenaded the aardvarkains! So special, thank you all so much. Davyd Norris and Mark Blanch our incredible volunteers worked around the clock to keep the projections and gear changes smooth and cart all the gear in and out, fantastic work and so appreciated guys. Meagan and Sarah tried to soak it all up while also making sure everything happened! Chris Klingbeil the chair of our board worked hard behind the scenes too! All the Aardvakians helped set up and make the place pretty. Memo made the night professional and all those who came along to support it was truly great to see you all and thankyou!! 11.01.2022 AARDVARK ANNOUNCES NEW FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN! 10 for 10! For 10 years now, Aardvark has been connecting young people experiencing serious medical or personal adversity with recording artists, music therapists and artist mentors - to write, record, perform and distribute original music.... To celebrate the past 10 years, we want to create the opportunity for 10 more young people to participate in our Aardvark Sessions Program. Wed love your help. One new Aardvark Sessions participant can be funded for $2,500. So if you would like to give a young person the chance to complete the program and graduate into the Aardvark Alumni program, we encourage you to take part. You can make a single donation or raise the funds at your workplace, school, community group or with friends - and well keep you updated on your participants progress at every step. We have welcomed yet another new group of Aardvarkians (see photos) who are in their Sessions now in our new home at The Victorian College of the ...Arts (VCA), Melbourne University. In partnership with Katrina McFerran, Professor of Music Therapy at the University of Melbourne we are doing an evaluation of the Aardvark program and its impact on the young people. You can hear Katrina speak today at the event. We have welcomed Elly Scrine (Elly Aardvark) to the team who is facilitating the Aardvark Sessions alongside Tristan Goodall of The Audreys facilitating the Sessions with the youth mentors Morgan Jacobs-Leahy, Julia Akanoa and Kirstin Jenkins. This year we plan to launch a new program of Aardvark providing 1/2 day to 4 day tailored Songwriting workshops to corporate organisations, youth organisations, councils and schools. These workshops will be at a cost and the money raised will go directly back into running the Aardvark Sessions and Alumni Program. To fund this we welcomed a grant from Helen Macpherson Smith Trust who are working with us to develop the program. Stay tuned for more on this! Sarah Summers Aardvark is really back working at Aardvark in full swing which is so exciting. Lucy Bolger - Aardvark had her baby girl in January, also VERY exciting and Meagan Hunt Chips-Aardvark will take a short-ish break to have her baby soon too. But Meagan will be back. Thanks to Sarah, Tristo, Elly, all the volunteers, the Aardvark youth mentors, the Board and the Aardvarkians who will continue the AMAZING Aardvark work this year.
