25.01.2022 This is a great outcome for my electorate of the South Metropolitan Region. COVID-19 has shown us that mental health is just as important as general health. If you're feeling down, please lean on friends and loved ones, or contact Lifeline on 13 11 14

25.01.2022 This hunk of metal cost Perth ratepayers $340,000! Have you ever wondered why we have so many other poorly placed pieces of scrap metal masquerading as 'art' in our city? It's all thanks to the Government's 'Percent for Art Scheme'. The Percent for Art Scheme requires that one percent of the construction budget for new major developments to be spent on 'artwork'. Gee, thanks!

25.01.2022 Is it too much to ask that we don't cram racial politics in to kids shows? I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that the creators or Bluey didn't use 'ooga booga' as a racial slur. This sounds like another case of political correctness gone mad. Let me know what you think below

24.01.2022 Join me for a live stream on Friday. I’ll be talking about the battle between Mark McGowan and Clive Palmer, a sinister new omnibus bill in Parliament, and the Government’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.

24.01.2022 The other day, I met with Dean Morris. Dean is a Year 12 student, and the founder of GOSAC - Give Our Strays A Chance: an organisation that raises awareness and donations for stray animals and rescue groups. In just the last 7 years alone, Dean has raised almost $250,000. Well done, Dean! We had a great chat about improving outcomes for animal welfare in Western Australia.

22.01.2022 Taxpayers are picking up the tab for McGowan's petty feud with Palmer. Not only are taxpayers funding McGowan's defence, they're now also funding his counterclaim for defamation. I said it when this whole saga began: Palmer V McGowan, who ever wins, WA taxpayers lose! I spoke about this in Parliament last night, video coming soon.

21.01.2022 Last week I found out the shocking news that none of the state’s top representatives for mental health have a seat at the highly secretive State Disaster Council meetings. We know that social isolation is linked to mental illness, emotional distress, suicide, the development of dementia and premature death. Despite this, specific mental health advice is not provided directly to the State Emergency Coordinator. If just one death is caused due to mental health considerations being ignored, the Government will have to explain to the WA community why it kept our top mental health professionals out of the decision loop.

21.01.2022 Households are being ripped off by Water Corp! I quizzed the Minister for Regional Development about what the Government was doing to fix this rought. Her answer: nothing! Context: In November 2017 the Economic Regulatory Authority audited Water Corps charges and found that the utility was over charging households in the Perth area to the tune of $338 million. As I was able to reveal last week during Budget Estimate hearings, the Government doesn't have a plan to fix this problem.

21.01.2022 An enormous thank you to the DFES personnel and volunteer firefighters who are working tirelessly to save homes and lives in Perth's north east. Between the bushfire and the COVID lock-down, it has been a enormously stressful week for so many in our community. If you're wondering how you can help those who've lost their homes over the last few days, watch this space. The Lord Mayor's Distress Relief Fund will soon be up and running to direct donations to those effected.... While I've had to close my electorate office due to the COVID lock-down, I and my staff will be working from home and can still be reached, so if you need any help at all, please don't hesitate to reach out. In the meantime, please stay safe, and keep up to date by checking the map at the DFES website: www.emergency.wa.gov.au

19.01.2022 They shall grow not old; as we that are left grow old Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn At the going down of the sun, and in the morning... We will remember them

19.01.2022 I will soon reveal the Liberal Democrats WA policy on Heritage. In the interim, I thought I'd share with you this speech that I made about the life story of a remarkable Western Australian, Elizabeth Clapham. In her lifetime (1850 - 1939), Elizabeth was:... The first woman elected to public office (local government) in WA A founder of the Labor Women's Organisation The first female factory inspector in WA An international advocate for women's suffrage Many a people and institutions have acknowledged the contribution to our state of Elizabeth. Including the National Library in Canberra, who maintain a collection of her records, and the State Governor, who will this year host a reception in her honour. But, not everyone feels that way... Earlier this year, the gravestone of Ms Clapham was removed from Karrakatta Cemetery. She now sits in an unmarked grave at that cemetery. The Liberal Democrats have not forgotten about Ms Clapham. Or about the contribution to our state of countless other pioneers. And if elected to Government, we will legislate for the retention of gravestones in perpetuity. If you care about this issue, sign-up to our campaign, and help us do precisely that www.aaronstonehouse.com.au/savekarrakatta

19.01.2022 What is McGowan hiding from you? Last week the McGowan Government extended their emergency powers, this was done on the very same day that they refused to reveal the secret communications between McGowan and the Chief Health Officer. The exercise of emergency powers should be closely monitored and subject to the highest level of transparency and scrutiny, however, McGowan and his cronies have fought against transparency at every opportunity.... While the extension was rammed through Parliament, I voted to limit the extension from 6 months down to 3 months.

19.01.2022 With Liberals like these, who needs the Greens?!

18.01.2022 The best way to help small business is to let them keep more of their own money, so that they can reinvest that into their business or hire more people. If elected to Government, the Liberal Democrats will eliminate the Payroll Tax for small businesses in WA. It was great to join David Marshall - Liberal Democrat for Baldivis the other day and chat with small business owners in Baldivis

17.01.2022 Just when you thought the Government's COVID response couldn't get any more callous, McGowan suggests sending law abiding West Aussies to federal detention centers. Christmas Island and Yongah Hill detention centers currently house, among others, violent criminals and paedophiles who are awaiting deportation. West Australian's who've done nothing more than try to return to their families and their homes shouldn't be treated like criminals.

16.01.2022 Great to join Carolyn Trigwell - Liberal Democrat for Kalamunda. Heritage seems to be an important issue for many people in the electorate. They value our history and they don't want to see public monuments vandalised or fall into disrepair. You can rest assured that, if elected to government, the Liberal Democrats will uphold the rule of law and protect all heritage-listed sites in Western Australia.

15.01.2022 I will never apologise for standing up for Roe 8 and 9. This is a vital piece of infrastructure that will slash travel times for people in Perth's southern suburbs, and allow them to spend more time at home with their families. If the Liberal Democrats gain the balance of power at the next state election, we will make the construction of Roe 8 and 9 a precondition for any supply that we offer to the Government.

15.01.2022 Going LIVE tomorrow morning. Don't forget to hit that REMINDER button to receive an instant notification

14.01.2022 Join me for a live stream on Tuesday. I’ll be updating you about the Government’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic. Grab some lunch and ask me anything! See you there.

14.01.2022 It's time we finally learned the truth about McGowan's hard border policy. In Parliament tomorrow I'll be voting for the following motion. If this motion passes it will force the Government to be honest about the health advice it was provided, and reveal why McGowan and the Chief Health Officer have been at odds over the hard border. The public deserve answers! ... Stay tuned for updates. See more

14.01.2022 Have a great Halloween, and try not to think too much about the looming financial crisis!

13.01.2022 We're out and about installing yard signs south of the river. Drop me a line if you'd like to have a piece of liberty on your front lawn!

12.01.2022 Where to start with Greg Hunt... Where to start. For a guy who supposedly hails from the progressive wing of the Liberal Party, he really likes to stick his head in the sand quite a bit. Surely he knows about all of these countries from accross the world who are legalising vaping? Surely he knows about all of the reports? And how the Health Department in the UK activity encourages smokers to vape in order to quit?... But no, as soon those public health lobbyists walk through his door, he cowtows to their interests and forgets about the health and welfare of everyday Australians who are doing it tough out there. Shame! My chat with Nadia and Russell about vaping on 720 ABC Radio Perth

11.01.2022 Thank you, Western Australia. I asked you to put your name to a petition to legalise vaping, and you came through. Exactly 7,176 of you came through. That's nearly as big as the petition to legalise Voluntary Assisted Dying, and is quite a high number as far as petitions go in WA. Fun fact: we're the only state where you still have to do it manually.... Let's see what the Government says. If they're not keen, the Liberal Democrats will go to the election with a policy to legalise vaping within our first 100 days of Government Thanks for your help! Dr. Joe's DIY Health

11.01.2022 Trading hours in WA are a joke. While in other states, you can easily get your business out of the way in the early hours of a Sunday morning, here you have to wait until 11:00am to do that. If elected to Government, the Liberal Democrats will deregulate trading hours, and allow businesses to open and close based on the needs and wants of the community. Great to join Bradley Chalke - Liberal Democrat for Dawesville on the campaign trail

11.01.2022 What a great team! I'm immensely proud of our candidate for South Perth, Jack Taylor - Liberal Democrat for South Perth who's been doing the hard yards and chatting with locals about the issues that are important in their lives. The Liberal Democrats will never take your vote for granted!

09.01.2022 We had a bit of a win this week on Karrakatta Cemetery. After pestering the government for nigh on eternity, they've finally agreed to hold a Review of the Cemeteries Act. Don't let that make you complacent though, we still have a long way to go until we have a good heritage policy in Western Australia. Join me for my fortnightly livestream tomorrow

09.01.2022 More than 80 homes have been destroyed in the Wooraloo and Hills bushfires this week. If you're looking for a way you can help those families who've been effected by the bushfires consider donating through the Lord Mayor's Distress Relief Fund. The mark of a society is how it comes together during times of crisis, and the people of Perth have donated more than 3 million dollars in little over a day. I'm blown away by the spirit of charity and volunteerism that exists in our s...tate. https://www.perth.wa.gov.au/LMDRF See more

08.01.2022 You should always be very wary of politicians when they say, 'trust me'. ICYMI, the WA Government just passed a law that: Retrospectively amended a 2002 State Agreement with a private company... Explicitely forbade the rules of natural justice and procedural fairness in relation to a specific dispute with the state Blocks all requests for freedom of information relating to that dispute Removes the right of appeal for a private company You may not like Clive, but this is pretty damning behaviour by a Government in what's supposed to be a 'liberal democracy'. More from me

07.01.2022 This isn't about Clive Palmer. This isn't about Mark McGowan. This is about something far older, and far greater, than either of those former and current politicians.... It's about the rule of law. It's about natural justice. Two concepts that underpin everything that is fair and good about our democratic system. It doesn't matter how much you don't like someone. That doesn't give you the right to squander away our legal inheritance in favour of cheap political points. My comments on WAtoday.com.au about the ongoing stoush between the WA Government and Clive Palmer

07.01.2022 Here's a story from the The West Australian on the vaping petition I tabled last week. Thousands of ex-smokers made their voices heard when the petition to legalise vaping was tabled in Parliament. The Liberal Democrats and I are committed to finishing this fight and legalising vaping in Western Australia, and if you elect us to Parliament with the balance of power, we'll do precisely that.... It's time to make the switch and support a party that supports your rights.

07.01.2022 We're about to find out if McGowan's 'Hard Border' is based on best health advice, or if it's politically motivated. The Government has until tomorrow to release the secret communications between McGowan, the Chief Health Officer and the Minister for Health. The Government has fought against transparency and accountability, but failed. What are they hiding?

06.01.2022 It's hard for me to put into words what happened this week in Western Australia. You have a Premier who's taking advantage of his popularity with the public to do some pretty wicked things to our justice system. You also have some elements of the media who are yupping this up, and are slinging mud at Clive Palmer because reasons.... And then you have me, who is seemingly the only person in our Parliament who actually cares about the rule of law. More from me on the 'Palmer Battle' in WA 7NEWS Perth

04.01.2022 Clive Palmer has threatened to raise a constitutional challenge to the Government's new law that blocks his arbitration claim. What's worse, nearly every lawyer to whom I've spoken seems to think that he's likely to win. I've tried to convince the Government to have a closer look at their bill before they rush off and cause more damage, but they insisted on ramming it through Parliament in less than 48 hours.... My speech on the implications for our state after the Government's actions this week

03.01.2022 The Government caved on Karrakatta, but we're still a long way away from having a good heritage policy in Western Australia. That's why I've endorsed for Parliament Carolyn Trigwell - Liberal Democrat for Kalamunda Watch the video below... 02.01.2022 Join me on Tuesday for my fortnightly livestream before I head into Parliament for the day! I’ll be putting a libertarian lens on the topical news of the day, discussing government policy failures in a Covid-19 context and answering any of your questions. So grab some lunch and tune in at midday on Tuesday!

02.01.2022 I had a great time campaigning in Joondalup the other day with our candidate Dr Peter McLoughlin - Liberal Democrat for Joondalup. Do you live around that area? Be sure to like Peter’s page

02.01.2022 Here's another example of why it's so important to have Liberal Democrats in Parliament. Last week I managed to prevent the Minister for Local Government from usurping power from democratically elected councillors and handing it to unaccountable bureaucrats. This article from WA Today explains some of the context around last weeks win for democracy and accountability
