21.01.2022 Congratulations to Aimee Sawtell, who was named most Outstanding Student at Charles Darwin University’s beauty and hairdressing prize giving event in Alice Springs this week. The Certificate III hair dressing apprentice wants to take her trade on the road, and become a hairdresser in outback Australia. I’m saving up for a red four-wheel drive, said Aimee, who loves to go bush and to camp under the stars.... Hairdressing is my ticket to the future. Once I’m qualified, I might take it to the road, she said. Best wishes with your future Aimee, we hope to bump into you on your travels!
20.01.2022 There is a lot of data available related to the VET and Australian Apprenticeships sectors and more broadly, around the employment market. During OctoberVET 2020, held by the Australasian Vocational Education Research Assocation (Avetra), AATIS hosted a webinar with the National Centre for Vocational Education Research to introduce users to the range of data available. During the webinar a large number of questions were received. Many were able to be answered during the session. In our latest blog post, we expand on those questions to give further information and links to resources. The webinar and slides are now available for you to view at your own leisure.

12.01.2022 In responding to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the Australian economy, a diverse range of voices have called on state governments to fund social housing projects. But what is social housing, how can it help drive post-COVID-19 economic recovery and how does this relate to apprenticeships? In our latest blog post, AATIS Data and Research Officer Dr Mark Dean walks us through a history of social housing, and the impact it can have on Australia's future for both those l...iving there and those building them. 'The Victorian Council of Social Service (VCOSS) has commended the government’s Big Housing Build project, stating that the long-term social and economic benefits of this investment will be immeasurable and that for people experiencing social and economic hardship, it means that with a roof over your head, you can overcome all the other challenges more easily.
