02.01.2022 Talking about Tennis Elbow! Tennis elbow is an incredibly common condition we see in the clinic - it's an overuse injury, often caused by computer work, repetitive movements and sometimes even tennis, hence the name! Here are some helpful tips on how to manage it: Heavy lifting, gripping motions and staying stationary all tend to aggravate symptoms. Try continuing to use your hand, but minimise any of these actions, to avoid setting ...off your pain. Use a heat pack or a heat cream to help relieve any pain. Gentle massage is another good option - just focus on the forearm muscles on the outside of the arm, rather than the bony attachment. Start doing isometric elbow exercises (static exercises). This can help you gradually build up the tolerance of the muscle tendons. These exercises can also have a pain relieving effect, making existing discomfort more tolerable, as well as helping long-term. In the past, wrist exercises were recommended early in the rehab process, however latest research suggests a different approach. Find out how best to manage your tennis elbow symptoms with our Sports Physio Linda! #tenniselbow #tenniselbowtreatment #tenniselbowpain #abphysio See more
