25.01.2022 Preparing an exit plan well in advance of retirement gives you control over how you exit and the value you end up with. http://abacusba.com.au/exit-planning-advice/ Start by looking at what your ideal plan and timeframe for retirement might be. Do you want to semi-retire? Do you want on-going ownership of the business while you hand-over? Do you want to sell?... Succession is always our preference, it offers a number of benefits including security for clients and staff. Need some guidance? We can help support your plans. Don't have someone in-house to take over? We can help you find someone externally. We can help arrange terms and agreements for partnerships. We can provide a comprehensive business valuation (for a partnership agreement or sale). If you prefer to sell, we can help you get the best price possible given the time available and situation, including an action plan to improve the practice in the lead up to selling, identifying where to invest time and resources and where to cut back. Remember that a buyer may have conditions, i.e. all records digitised and and that if you lose clients during the transition period you will lose amounts from the sale price (‘claw-backs’). *** Our passion is to help you get the very most out of your Accounting business. *** We want you to enjoy your work now and, eventually, exit well: on your terms, with maximum value (in both financial and non-financial respects). #accounting #accountinglife #accountingbusiness #accountingservices #accountants #accountantproblems #charteredaccountant #accountantmarketing #accountingandfinance #accountantsandaccounting #accountingprofessionals #accountingfirm #accountancyservices

25.01.2022 The opportunity to increase billings with existing Accounting clients is real - offer them amazing value! The current economic climate has made items like understanding cash flow and real-time business advice all the more critical for your clients, and they need your help! Warren Buffett famously said, Price is what you pay; value is what you get. Value is the usefulness of an item to a customer, it could be measured in financial terms, emotional terms, physical conditions,... or in any number of other ways. >> Stop Competing on Price. The entry of more and more low-end competitors into the industry is making compliance accounting a cheap commodity don’t get sucked into a price matching vortex. >> You are an expert, you have so much more to offer than basic compliance services including saving them time, preventing bad decisions, and reducing their stress. >> If a one-hour advisory meeting with you saves a client numerous sleepless nights, arguments with their partner, and a day’s work blundering through cash flow forecasting on their own, it is money well spent. !!!!! The key is to make your value vs price equation a deal that no one can refuse - this might mean putting in a little extra effort or it might mean redistributing or delegating efforts more effectively. !!!!! Need help to improve your value? Talk to us. #accounting #accountinglife #accountingbusiness #accountingservices #accountants #accountantproblems #charteredaccountant #accountantmarketing

16.01.2022 Growing your Accounting business doesn’t just mean getting new clients. You can also grow your income by expanding the services you offer current clients and ‘upgrading’ them. Firstly, is your service structure clear? do your clients understand which level of service they are on and what other options are available? The more concrete your language around services, packages or add-ons is, the more relaxed clients feel about upgrading, and the easier it is for you to service. E...veryone understands who gets what and how much they pay. ‘Packaged’ services are also easier for you and your staff to discuss with, or offer to, clients because of the reduced ambiguity and clear pricing. *** Need some help defining your services? 14.01.2022 How is your website? Does it need improvements in 2021? Is it at least 'compliant'? Your website should be (at minimum): mobile friendly, up-to-date with SEO, and current/accurate about your services and team. This is like basic compliance for your primary marketing tool. In addition, It should also be unique, and show the world what makes your practice different from others, the value you offer to clients and why you are the experts they should trust with their business and... finances. It shows the world that you exist (well, hopefully, because if you don’t appear in a Google search for accountants in your area you may as well not exist). By having a website that is too simple, outdated, non-ranking or non-existent you are essentially invisible. ***Make your website a 'must-do' for 2021.*** Need help? Talk to us about your website. #accounting #accountinglife #accountingbusiness #accountingservices #accountants #accountantproblems #accountantmarketing #accountingprofessionals #accountingfirm #accountancyservices

14.01.2022 The core of your business identity (and key platform for marketing) is differentiation >> Why would a new client come to you and not your competitor down the street? It may sound basic, but you really do need to be able to answer this question confidently! Are you a specialist? Do you absolutely love working with family businesses or start-ups or tradies or tech companies? ... Do you have additional expertise? Can you offer additional value? Rather than letting clients and competitors define your business, be proactive and determine your own points of difference. The challenge then, is to live up to them - this will feed into your business plan. When you are clear on your points of difference your staff will feel confident in their communication and clients are confident in their expectations - everybody wins. Plus, you are more likely to attract clients of like mind and you'll feel more empowered to charge adequately for your services. So, are you clear about your points of difference? Are these the focus of your website and marketing? If not, make this a priority for 2021. #accounting #accountinglife #accountingbusiness #accountingservices #accountants #accountantproblems #charteredaccountant #accountantmarketing #accountingandfinance #accountantsandaccounting #accountingprofessionals #accountingfirm #accountancyservices

08.01.2022 Are you spending enough? >> Often, businesses will look at their competitors in envy, wondering why they are growing so much faster or appearing so much more successful. One factor that can have a major impact is marketing spend. ****... International benchmarks suggest that, on average, businesses spend 9 to 12 percent of annual revenue on marketing - even more if they are pursuing growth! **** I recently had a discussion about a very successful Accounting business, exploring how they have achieved their success. If their revenue is approaching $1M, spending $100,000 on marketing is definitely not out of the question. Obviously, the output will reflect the input, and cutting corners will inevitably lead to disappointing results. As accountants, I am sure you can do the maths(!) a Practice with $300,000 in revenue should allocate $25,000 $30,000 per year. How does that compare with your current spending? #accounting #accountinglife #accountingbusiness #accountingservices #accountants #accountantproblems #charteredaccountant #accountantmarketing
