10.01.2022 Have you ever thought who invented alphabets? Yup, you are right! Translators invented a few of them! For instance Mesrop Machtots invented the Armenian and Albanian alphabets and then translated the Bible with them. Saint Cyril invented the Cyrillic alphabet, used today to write Russian, Bulgarian and Serbian, among many other languages.
09.01.2022 There is a small Island off the coast of Spain called Gomero where inhabitants found a very curious way of communicating across the deep ravines and narrow valleys that radiate through the island: whistling. Messages conveyed could range from event invitations to public information advisories.

07.01.2022 Curious fact of the day... Did you know that a mistranslation may have been the cause of the atomic bomb being dropped on Hiroshima? Right after the Potsdam treaty was signed, Premier Kantaro Suzuki used the word "Mokusatsu" to describe the attitude of its government towards the treaty. This was translated by US translators as "treat with silent contempt" and therefore interpreted as a hostile reaction by the US government. ... Some historians believe that Suzuki used the word "Mokusatsu" in its other meaning of "not knowing how to answer" and wanting to take a bit more time to draft a formal answer. We unfortunately all know how the story ended.

English has become the main language in which medical scientists speak only starting from the late 1800s. Do you need advice on your medical translation...?
