24.01.2022 The owner of this pair of Ab and Bb Buffet clarinets has been a bit distracted this year helping to keep us all safe at the Dept of Health. He sees this restoration as a pathway to playing Bach Chaconne and Cello Suites and the magnificent music of the Newar civilisation of the Kathmandu Valley. He has told us he is very happy and we hope this restoration helps him achieve his life’s passion. #clarinet #buffetR13 #clarinetoverhaul #bach

12.01.2022 The Naked Lady is in da house! A Conn 6M from 1947 arrived for an overhaul this week. These American sleeper horns are affectionately known as Naked Ladies - each one having a unique engraving of a beautiful woman on their bell. Later called ‘standard’ or ‘artist’ model by Conn, this one is an artefact for a son whose father passed away taking his secrets to the grave #nakedlady #saxrestorations #Conn6M #saxoverhaul

12.01.2022 Sitting next to a more modern version in wood and metal, this newly repaired piccolo is made entirely of hardwood and has a much less sophisticated mechanism. Higher pitched than a flute, a piccolo can cut through a wall of sound and is often used to emphasise certain moods and emotions. This one was purchased in Holland and is used by its owner to play Celtic music.

10.01.2022 Happy Fathers Day everyone This tired beauty was brought to me by a daughter longing to bring back to life her father’s joy and passion - an English sax from 1928 made by Hawks and Son.

02.01.2022 Buescher C Melody - bought in 1924 in Michigan (payment inclusive of war tax). Neither alto nor tenor, it arrived in Australia without even a case! After years on the shelf it has received the care and attention it needs (and a new case). Look at it shine! #saxmakeover #BuescherCMelody #vintagesaxrestoration
