For a full recap, there is no better place than the State website https://www.abcfriends.org.au and ABCF National Update at https://www.abcfriends.org.au/national_newsletter There is an excellent summary by our National President in Update of the events of the year. It is great that we have so much support from our members, supporters and the general community. On behalf of ABCF Central Coast, Thank you. In this New Year, our ABC is under duress. Funding cuts and the rise of the FAANGs ( Facebook, Amazon, Apple, Netflicks, Google) all of which pose a significant threat to broadcasting. There is a general disregard of impartial journalism. What the ABC does best is to provide information to the entire nation. Everywhere you are in Australia, the ABC is there. Emergency warnings and what is happening in your community are something that only ABC can provide. To this end, any suggestions you have about what we can do to better support and protect the ABC are welcomed. We are looking forward to hearing from you. On behalf of Ross McGowan, our Convenor , the Committee and myself, let us all fight the good fight to keep our ABC as it needs to be. Thank you for supporting the Central Coast Friends of the ABC Chris Moe Secretary 02 4368 4656 email: [email protected]

03.01.2022 Last night I went to a very stimulating ABC Friends event to meet John Cleary, who delivered a very in depth talk of his time at the ABC as both a broadcaster a...nd a board director. He described in detail the effects of relentless cuts to the ABC and how it is expected to do more with drastically reduced resources and the effect on its ability to maintain its legendary deep probing investigative reporting to uncover wrong doing in all forms.
