20.01.2022 POISON WARNING: 'KEEP DOGS AT HOME' The Department of Parks and Wildlife is urging pet owners to leave them at home or keep them muzzled to avoid poisoning. 1080 baits will be dropped in a number of national parks throughout the State including Fitzgerald National Park, Cape Arid, Warren and the Northern Jarrah Forest.... Albany veterinarian Malcolm Webb says the survival rate for dogs who ingest 1080 poison is poor. "1080 baiting is just a really highly toxic and very efficient bait so the hassle of it is usually once animals show some degree of symptoms, usually they won't survive. Survival rate is really poor to the extent that sometimes people say if the animal survives it didn't have 1080," he said. Picture: DBCA
