18.01.2022 Changes coming for JobKeeper as of 28/9/20! #easyasabc #contactus #jobkeeper #willyourbusinessremaineligible Finally the ATO has decided that it shouldnt be paying part time employees the same as a full time worker. Employees who were employed for less than 20 hours a week on average in the four weekly pay periods ending before 1 March 2020 will receive the lower payment rate. From 28 September 2020, businesses will have to re-assess their eligibility by reference to their... actual June and September quarter turnovers to demonstrate that they have suffered an ongoing significant decline in turnover. https://www.austaxpolicy.com//government-announces-change/
18.01.2022 For anyone lodging payroll tax annual reconciliations with State Revenue Victoria, make sure you choose yes to apply Covid Relief. As part of the Victorian Government Economic Survival Package in response to coronavirus, businesses with annual Victorian taxable wages up to $3 million will have their payroll tax for the 2019-20 financial year waived. If a payment amount still shows as owing, contact them as they are having system errors applying the credit to accounts. Do not pay the payroll tax until you contact them first. #PayrollTax #Vic #CoronaRelief #smallbusiness

12.01.2022 CONFUSION ABOUT EMPLOYEES AND CONTRACTORS? WHATS THE DIFFERENCE? Did you know that some contractors may be deemed employees for superannuation, workers compensation and payroll tax purposes? The most prominent differences are outlined below -: DELEGATION Unlike an employee, a contractor can delegate and pay someone else to do the work... REMUNERATION An employee generally is paid for their time whether it be per hour, per item, or a commission. If you are paying a contractor by the hour, check the other factors listed here, especially the last one, independence. A contractor is paid for a result based on a quotation. The quote can still be calculated using an hourly rate or price per item to determine the charge. Whilst a quote can be verbal, it would be ideal to be provided with a written quote. EQUIPMENT & TOOLS This category mostly applies to the building & construction industry. An employee would have equipment and tools provided for them or they would receive an allowance for providing their own. A contractor would supply most of the equipment and tools to complete the work and doesnt receive an allowance or reimbursement for this. RISK Who is responsible for the work and liable for rectifying any errors? Employees do not take commercial risks and they work under the umbrella of their employer. Contractors and legally responsible for their work and are liable to rectify errors. For this reason, contractors should hold indemnity insurance. INDEPENDENCE This is an important deciding factor. An employee does not carry on a business independently. A contractor operates their own business independent of the employers business. Independent contractors perform services as quoted or specified in their contract and are free to accept or refuse additional work. For payroll tax purposes, dont be fooled into thinking that just because individual contractor operating under a company name is providing a regular service to you that they are exempt from payroll tax. 11.01.2022 For all those wanting to finalise the 2020 payroll and forward date their first payroll for 2021, sorry it wont work. MYOB have taken it upon themselves in the 2020.2 update to restrict 2021 payrolls to only be entered when the system date is actually 1/7/20 UTC time (10am EST). This is what happens when software companies are out of touch with how professional users actually operate. Consultation should have happened before making a change this significant. #eofyfail #eofy ...#myob #payroll https://community.myob.com//Unable-to-p/td-p/657403/page/9
10.01.2022 Congratulations Concept Pools Australia! You deserve it!
09.01.2022 For those with a mortgage, take half an hour out of your day to call your lender and ask for a better deal! Those blood sucking parasites wont call u and offer it to you! And for those who have a portion fixed, did you know there are days where the early repayment rate is nil? So effectively you can break that so called fixed loan and restart on a lower interest rate. I had no idea you could do that and obviously the banks wont want you to know that. But now I do, Im spreading the word!! #takecontrol #itsmymoney #ifyouarenthappychangeit
