24.01.2022 COUNCIL'S CEO SACKED Central Coast Council's Administrator has sacked CEO Gary Murphy, effective immediately. In a short statement, Council has confirmed Mr Murphy's contract has been terminated, with recruitment for a new CEO to get underway shortly.... Gary Murphy, who has been in the top job since July 2018, has been on extended leave since last month's revelations of an $89-million council budget deficit.

Council says the decision was due to COVID-19 restrictions - but wouldn’t confirm if its poor financial position was also a factor. 14.01.2022 Restrictions Remain Level 1 water restrictions will remain on the Central Coast for the time being. Mangrove Creek Dam has risen to 60% capacity after 148 millimetres of rainfall in the past week.... The trigger point for water restrictions is 55% capacity at Mangrove Creek Dam, but Central Coast Council says the region will remain on Level 1 restrictions until the matter is reviewed at the end of Spring. 12.01.2022 NEW WATER PARK BLAMED FOR POLLUTION Central Coast Council has confirmed the source of this pollution, seen spewing into Brisbane Water this week. A spokesperson says the new $10 million-dollar water park, under construction on the Gosford Waterfront, is responsible for the discharge. ... Council says the EPA has been notified. The State Government's Hunter and Central Coast Development Corporation, which is behind the project, has been contacted for comment.

A $2.4-million transitional group home for up to 20 residents has been unanimously approved by the region's Local Planning Panel. The Glen for Women will be built on a rural property at Wyong Creek, with the Panel confirming the proposal is suitable for the four-hectare site.

02.01.2022 The Administrator of Central Coast Council has revealed the now-sacked CEO Gary Murphy will walk away with a $380,000 severance payout. Dick Persson, Administrator has confirmed Mr Murphy's contract was terminated by letter last Friday - effective immediately - due to his unacceptable financial management of the Council. Mr Persson acknowledged public frustration over the payout, saying it would've been $80,000 less had councillors reached agreement during termination negoti...ations eight weeks ago. He said he was also unhappy about it but, "the most important thing in my view now is to move on, find someone with the appropriate level of experience to help turn this place around". A report on investigations into Council's loss of hundreds of millions of dollars will be unveiled on Wednesday afternoon.
