25.01.2022 Christmas might still be 57 days away, but it might be a good time to explain to the children in your life that there's little to no chance of sitting on Father Christmas's lap this year. But do you think your child would be happier to stand alongside Santa instead of jumping onto his lap? We know that there are children petrified and children who love Father Christmas, how about yours? The best news for some country South Australians is that some of our local events like the Cummins Christmas Wonderland is going ahead this year, but with a few changes to make it safe on their COVID plan. How about at your place?

25.01.2022 #BREAKING The Department of Primary industries has announced catch and release fishing will be allowed in the waters around Port Pirie during the 12-month fishing ban. The precautionary ban was put in place in September after a study from the University of South Australia revealed the levels of Zinc and Lead in the sediment around Port Pirie are some of the highest in the world. ... Minister for Primary Industries and Regional Development David Basham said at the request of the Port Pirie and Mount Remarkable councils, testing of heavy metals in fish from waters off Port Pirie will be carried out in the coming weeks with results expected by the end of the year. The fishing closure at Port Pirie has been put in place as a precautionary measure to protect the community’s health while further investigations are carried out, said Minister Basham. Testing will be carried out in the coming weeks, positive test outcomes could see fishing reopened for fin fish species. It is important that we take these steps in order to have accurate information about whether there are potential health risks or not. In the meantime, catch and release fishing will be allowed in both closure zones." Zone 1 waters south and west of Weeroona Island Boat Ramp and including First Creek, Second Creek and Port Pirie River. All species, including all molluscs, crustaceans and fish, must not be taken and retained from this area. Zone 2 waters in the Port Germein area, extending north and west from Weerona Island Boat Ramp. Bivalve molluscs must not be taken from this area eg. oysters, mussels, scallops and razorfish.
