24.01.2022 Does it really matter if you pull a USB out before it safely ejects? The short answer...yes, it definitely can. Be careful when you're backing up your important data!

13.01.2022 If you're looking to get a VPN, here are five of the best!

13.01.2022 When in doubt, contact the organisation or institution the email is supposedly from. Look out for strange and unsecured links, spelling errors, and above all, remember that you won't ever be asked to confirm sensitive details such as passwords and credit card numbers via email.

12.01.2022 Looking to get a new PC for Christmas, and need some advice on what to buy? Need some help setting it up and transferring over all your files, photos, and emails? Give me a call on 0405 766 717!

11.01.2022 Hardware can be replaced, programs can be sourced, repurchased, and re-installed if necessary, but your photos, your emails, and other important personal files are irreplaceable and not always recoverable when disaster strikes a PC. You can avoid the heartache by picking up an external hard drive, and making regular back-ups of your files. Free software such as FBackup can be used to copy all of your photos, emails, and important data to an external drive with the click of a button. If you'd like to set yourself up with a backup solution, please give me a call on 0405 766 717 for more information and an obligation-free quote!

11.01.2022 FYI: As of next Tuesday, January 12th, Microsoft will no longer be supporting Internet Explorer 8, 9, and 10. Make sure you're up to date, or using a constantly updated browser such as Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. http://www.pcworld.com//microsoft-officially-dumps-interne

11.01.2022 Superloop has announced that they will be discontinuing all IDL email addresses as of November 30th, 2019. They have provided instructions for importing any messages into a Gmail account at the following link. If you're a Novacastrian who still uses IDL mail, be sure to make alternative arrangements ASAP and let your friends and family know about your new address! If you require assistance setting up a new email account and changing over, feel free to book in a callout on 0405 766 717.

11.01.2022 While you're staying out of the heat, remember that computers like to keep cool, too. Keep your desktops and laptops well-dusted to ensure their fans do their job and avoid overheating!

10.01.2022 While clone accounts are a real phenomenon, it appears the latest rash of warnings is itself a scam or hoax, or a well-meaning gesture that's spiralled out of control.

08.01.2022 Do you have an old game, or useful piece of software that you can't run on more recent versions of Windows? Virtual machines such as VMWare and DOSBox can be used to fire up old favourites on newer PCs! If you're interested in getting old software to run, that's one of the many services that I can provide to home users. Please give me a call on 0405 766 717 if you'd like to find out more!

07.01.2022 Microsoft will be ending support for Windows 7 as of January 14th, 2020. This means that they will no longer provide technical assistance or security updates for the operating system. Though Windows 7 will still continue to function, upgrading to Windows 10 is advisable. I can help with upgrading your current PC to Windows 10 (if viable), or purchasing and setting up a new Windows 10 PC. Please give me a call on 0405 766 717 for more information and an obligation-free quote!

06.01.2022 Are you still running Windows XP? If so, it's well past time to upgrade: extended support ended in April of last year, which means no further security updates. If you've got a dual-core PC or better, it's feasible to upgrade to Windows 7. If you've still got an old Pentium 4...it's definitely time for a new system! For advice on upgrades and new systems, or to make a booking to transfer your data to a new PC, please give me a call on 0405 766 717. If you're running Windows Vista or later, extended support will last a little longer: until April 2017 (Vista), January 2020 (Windows 7), or January 2023 (Windows 8/8.1). More information can be found here on the Microsoft website: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-au/windows/lifecycle

03.01.2022 Beware of scammers! But if you do feel like having a bit of fun with them...
