Police say the woman was driving along Boree Road when her car veered off the road, about 1km east of the intersection with Triggervale Road. She died at the scene and her 29-year-old male passenger suffered minor injuries.... 21.01.2022 A man, believed to be in his late twenties, has died after his car collided with a truck on the Sturt Highway early this morning. Emergency services were called to the scene near Tarcutta around 1.30am, and the Highway remains closed in both directions. The man died at the scene and is yet to be formally identified.... Police said the 66-year-old male truck driver was treated by paramedics for minor injuries taken to Wagga Base Hospital for mandatory testing. 17.01.2022 INLAND WATERWAY SAFETY TRAINING The state's first 'Outback Lifesaver' program will be piloted in Wagga Wagga next year, in a bid to improve water safety in and around the Murrumbidgee River. In 2017 Royal Lifesaving named the Murrumbidgee as one of Australia's deadliest rivers - in the last 18 years there have been more than 20 drowning deaths in the river.... 05.01.2022 More than 14,000 homes and businesses are without power across the Riverina and Central West after storms swept through the region. Young is the worst affected area with around 7,513 properties without power, followed by 2,505 in Cowra and 1,882 in Cootamundra. Essential Energy Operations Manager, Shawn Eade said crews have been deployed to find and fix the faults.... Mr Eade said if people come across damaged or fallen powerlines they should stay at least eight metres away. Always treat powerlines as live and remember that anything in contact with them, such as cars, trees or fences, can conduct electricity and pose a danger, he said. We encourage residents to immediately report fallen powerlines, network damage, fires or trees contacting powerlines to Essential Energy on 13 20 80 or call Triple-0 if the situation is life threatening.
