25.01.2022 UPDATE Through all of this craziness I am unable to operate at my previously planned location, I am however planning on operating at my old location in Yarra Junction. Sorry for any inconvenience, i will update my page tomorrow with what day I'll be starting to take appointments but hopefully that will be next week on Wednesday. 08.01.2022 Goodmorning I know it's been awhile but with all this beautiful weather I thought I'd put up a post about using sunscreen and protecting your skin. We should be wearing an SPF everyday even through the winter, but WHY???? Well we have UVA & UVB rays, UVA rays are your aging rays and they are the same strength the whole year around even in the coldest part of winter. These rays can penetrate through windows and they breakdown your collagen and elastin prematurely aging you...r skin and they make any existing pigmentation darker. Then there's your UVB rays these are your burning rays, they are more prominent through the summer/warmer months and when exposed to these for too long we can burn/blister/damage our skin. The sun rays enter our skin and try to change our skins DNA, so our skin creates pigmentation (sun spot) over the DNA to try and protect it like an umbrella, after so much damage to the cells DNA it then results in cancer. It is so much easier to prevent then reverse aging in skin and without a doubt sunscreen should be your NUMBER 1 Anti-aging product. A broad-spectrum SPF covers both of these rays but some sunscreens only cover one of these rays so it's important you check when purchasing one. Some people don't like to put sunscreen on there face because they get irritated eyes from it but just to educate you there are 2 types of sunscreens 'barrier sunscreens' & 'chemical sunscreens'. Chemical ones neutralise the rays after they enter your skin, with this sometimes you can feel heat with this type of SPF and this can be irritating to sensitive eyes. Barrier SPF tends to be slightly thicker and can take alittle longer to absorb but is fantastic for sensitive eyes/skin. At a minimum we should be wearing an SPF30 to SPF50 on our face. If you add a '0' on the end of the SPF coverage that is how many minutes it covers you for, so 30 covers you for 300mins which is about 5 hours of protection and SPF50 covers you for 500 mins which is about 8 hours. If you are sitting out in the sun I would recommend reapplying every couple of hours, no sunscreen blocks 100% of rays. Dermalogica has a great range of spf's but I wanted to highlight the newest spf Invisible Physical Defence. This is a barrier SPF30+ and leaves your skin nice and glowy, it blends easily so it's not leaving you looking white. It is a weightless sunscreen which is great for oily blemished skin as well as all other skin types, this formula won't clog your pores or leave you feeling sticky and has added blue light protection from TVs, smart phones, laptops, electrical devises etc. Blue light causes extra melanin production and premature aging. I know this is a super long post but I think education is key to beautiful protected skin, so please don't forget to add an SPF into your skincare and if you would like a sample sent to you PM me. 0400 989 226
