21.01.2022 *Meet the team Friday* Today we welcome our new surgeon Alannah to the team! Alannah grew up in Warwickshire, England before moving to Glasgow for her veterinary degree. She completed an internship at Goulburn Valley Equine Hospital in Victoria and stayed on at GVEH for a three year surgical residency under Dr Jim Vasey. Alannah has a particular interest in racehorse practice and enjoys orthopaedic and respiratory surgery. In her spare time Alannah can be found camping and hiking with her two dogs ‘Boris’ and ‘Piper’ or riding her off the track STB ‘Diego’.

20.01.2022 Laparoscopy is a useful technique we use to perform some abdominal surgeries in standing, sedated horses. This involves placing a long camera and instruments into the abdomen via small incisions which reduces recovery time and the risks associated with general anaesthesia. We have had some tall patients lately which require highly specialised step stools! #abecvets #equinevetsaustralia

17.01.2022 Congratulations to Gentry Park Take Note, Sara Osaulenko & Jess Stones!

14.01.2022 Happy New Year to all of our clients! The sun is shining (briefly) and the time is right to sort out any lameness or performance problems before the start of a new season. We have experienced veterinarians and specialists available at the clinic to assist with these issues. Our facilities include a trotting track, round yard, riding arena and multiple surfaces on which to assess lameness as well as radiology, ultrasound and bone scan (nuclear scintigraphy) to perform diagnostic evaluations. Whilst some lameness examinations can be conducted at a client’s property, there are many benefits to performing more complex examinations at the clinic where we have the facilities, diagnostic equipment and staff assistance to find your horse’s problem. #equinevet #2021

09.01.2022 *Meet the team Friday!* Amélie Cowan joined us almost a year ago from Goulburn Valley Equine hospital, Victoria. Originally from North Yorkshire in England, she has fully immersed herself within the ABEC team and has enjoyed getting to know our clients. Her main interests are in emergency medicine, neonatal intensive care, anaesthesia and sports medicine. She is always up for a challenge and having attended multiple SES rescues during her time at ABEC, she is often the first... to volunteer if we get a call! In her spare time Amélie is very active, she loves to be outdoors and is always exploring new places (36 countries in total!) Whether bush walking, playing netball, practicing her french or attempting to paddle the inflatable kayak she and her partner Tym bought, she likes to keep herself busy.
