15.01.2022 A brisk sail to Cape Upstart, All arrived safely and enjoyed Wine and Cheese on the beach to watch the sun go down.

13.01.2022 Gloucester to Cape Upstart Today was a 48 nautical mile sail from Gloucester to Cape Upstart with a secret time of between 3-4.00pm. Anchor was up at 7.00pm as we motored out of the bay and hoisted the mainsail. We had a good southerly breeze blowing so unfurled the Screecher and set sail. It was a rather cool cloudy day with a decent breeze for most of the day between 12 to 15 knots so we were able to average around 7 knots. It was obviously way too fast for a fish to ho...ok onto the lures trolling off the back or Rhapsody. Today was joke day and some of the fleet radioed their jokes in to be judged at our sundowner later today. Everyone was way ahead of time Vela Perfecta getting closest to the secret time and awarded a bottle of wine at presentation for their effort. By the time we were 4 nautical miles from the finish the breezed had died and the fleet had pulled down sails and started engines to motor the final leg to Cape Upstart. At 4.30 pm the fleet had made their way to the beach by dinghy for a sunset wine and cheese night. We watched a spectacular sunset over the fleet anchored in the bay and much quizzing as to who sailed the entire distance and who cheated along the way with a little engine assistance. Tomorrow we are sailing to Cape Bowling Green approximately 35 nautical miles, let the tactics begin.

There are rumours circulating around the traps that you must have a temporary Australian Sailing Number to sail on Wednesday nights with WSC. The facts are actually as follows: The old Silver Card is now known as the Australian Sailing Number and is allocated from Australian Sailing (formerly called Yachting Australia). Anyone who sails competitively, and this includes Wednesday Afternoon Go Sailing (WAGS) and/or more than 3 times in any one sailing season, must be a member of an affiliated club and the APYC is an affiliated club of Australian Sailing. THERE IS NO ADDITIONAL COST FOR AN AUSTRALIAN SAILING NUMBER It comes with your full membership. Your full club membership allows you to participate in any club events in Australia. There is no physical card given. At APYC you get this number with your membership fee of $80 for a single or $120 for a couple. Click here to see your Australian Sailing Number with the APYC. People who had old Silver Card numbers may still get that number allocated to them, but generally its a whole new number. You can also check you have an active AS Number by going to the Australian Sailing website or by clicking here: https://www.sailing.org.au/member-finder/ CORAL COAST RALLY 18-24 September 2020 We will also be talking about the Coral Coast Rally which is to be held from 18-24 September.
